What is the difference in humidity between Sallisaw and CHickasha? I know the rainfall amount is suppose to drop by 1 inch for every 10 miles west of the Arkansas border.George is afraid the tornado's are going to kill him,I'm afraid the humidity and his COPD will get him 1st
.I really like the pictures Peg has posted of Hughes County.Just still got to keep him within range of a VA. |

It does get drier as you go westward, I am not sure how much though.
Hughes County is nice, but is too far from the VA hospitals. The areas around Seminole, Tecumseh, Prague etc. are similar, and would be closer to the medical center in OKC. |

Below is a precipitation map for Oklahoma. It's hard to read the exact data, but you can see the trend from SE to NW (NW being drier).

I found a humidity map of Oklahoma and it only shows a 5-10 degree difference in the humidityfrom Sallisaw to Chickasha. Then I went to the Chickasha website and saw the pictures of the town underwater 2007
George wants rolling hills at least.i know it's HOT in Oklahoma in the summer but is the humidity better anywhere than the far west side?Anyone with COPD out there? I remember lots of smokers outside with me in high school. |

Chickasha fill be drier than Sallisaw, as far as Oklahoma goes that's plain common sense. West is dry, east is wet, central is whatever it wants to be. Hence the flooding

Chickahsha is pretty humid in town because there are a lot of trees, lots of convergence of creeks into the Wa****a River. I would imagine that Sallisaw is a little worse but not enough to make a decision concerning where to live.
I will say that for the most part, the humidity drops more quickly as you go west of Highway 81 (which Chickasha is locataed on) than it does from the Arkansas line to highway 81. Really though, the panhandle is probably the only place that would be considered a consistantly dry climate. |

And 2007 was unusually wet for most of the state; Oklahoma City reported something like 56 inches of rain, instead of the usual 33 or 34.

I would say that Cushing would be slightly less humid than Sallisaw but not all that much.
Cushing is kind of a dump. I think Chickasha is a better town, but Cushing is only about 30 minutes from Stillwater. About an hour from Tulsa and OKC. However Chickasha is only about 30 minutes from Norman (OU) and 30-45 minutes from from OKC. Sallisaw revolves around Ft. Smith. (30-40 minutes). Sallisaw is closest to the prettiest country. I have lived in Chickasha and worked in Cushing at the hospital. I would take Chickasha over Cushing. Sallisaw would put you more in the Arkansas sphere of things. |
