Hello good people of Oklahoma, I was wondering if any of you live around Ardmore and could give me some info about the place? My wife and I might be moving there as early as the summer from Arizona. We are in our mid-20's. What are the people like, anything to do on weekends, etc? Maybe some of you who dont live there could tell us what life is like in similar sized towns in Okla? Thanks guys and gals!

Hi MHB2001

Ardmore is close to beautiful Lake Murray. Scuba diving, water skiing and tubing, swimming, fishing, hiking, horseback riding are sports people enjoy there.

I can't tell you about the night life in Ardmore, but you can hop on I-35 and go to Dallas for anything you want.

The people there are very nice. Be prepared to slow way down.

We Moved here a year ago from Texas- we're 30 (something). All the things listed above are great- the lake, close to Denton Dallas, OKC. The town is very family oriented. There are parks all around- we have several theatres, there's a small music scene, and people here love eating out- but they keep it all simple. Downtown area is really growing- there are lofts apartments being built & art studios, I'm actually opening a higher end vinatge clothing store downtown hopefully in the summer. Also,Be prepared to see ALOT of red during football season, because 90 yr old grannies will run you off I35 on their way to a Sooner game. People are very laid back here, and friendly. At first there was "NO way" I was going to move here, but after my husband & I started meeting people- it has really grown on me & I love it! Hope that helps!

Report after a year: Ardmore is excellent for young adults! We really enjoy Lake Murray, Chickasaw Park just North, along with Turner Falls (usually at one of these during the weekends)....We are excited to go see the Pat Green concert in Ardmore in a couple weeks. We love the accessibility of I-35 with Dallas and OKC being close, but we haven't been going as much as I thought we would! Ardmore is a solid small town with lots of charm and friendly, welcoming folks. The small town life is still refreshing after a year, we love it!

If you have kids the Plainview school district is in the southwest part of town and is really good.

Ardmore is nice but it is pretty typical of towns it's size in Oklahoma with the huge advantage of being about half way between OKC and Dallas as well as being close to some good lakes and the Arbuckle mountain area.
