My brief experience here has taught me this...

You almost look forward to the storms because
they push out the heat and humidity for a couple of days.

That's the best discription I've heard and in only 2 sentences
You really don't have to worry about "smothering heat" because, like CG said, sometime during the day, the winds push them out. I guess you could say that OK. is weatherized.

and...I'm hoping for rain like we had last June because that, along with the frogs it produced, made for a pretty bug-free summer. The year before?....beetles, june bugs, & spiders OH MY!

My 7th grade Social Studies teacher was the first to comment
that I was very concise... Had to look that up back then.

TransAm, I am one that does not handle the heat well at all! I absolutely hate summer. I stay inside as much as possible. I know people who move every year because of the heat. My rheumy is moving next month to get away before the heat hits. The only good thing I've heard is that this summer (as last summer also) will be cooler, in that we should not have any 100 degree days. I've lived where we would get high temps, but it was dry. I could stay out in the sun all day long there. I think it bothers you more the older you get also.

I've ALWAYS hated the heat....
But..
As I've gotten older, the cold of Northern NH was beginning to get to me also...
(Especially since the price of oil went through the roof.
Guess I'm just never happy.

I will say this much however...
My son and I are probably going to be wearing shorts
for our first Okie Winter....

You native Okies don't know what cold is.

CG, I'm with you. I don't like the heat and humidity, but as I get older, I don't like the real cold that much either.

I've seen quite a few people in shorts the whole time we've been here, so I think you may not be the only ones in shorts next winter.

Heck, where I just came from, it wasn't unusual to see teens in shorts during the Winter.

We're talking about a place that's been known to get down to 37 below.

GP informs me that during ice storms here, that the entire place shuts down
and you get excused from going to work...
Never saw that up North.

Most of us wear shorts........we just wear them under our pants, not out in the open where the world can see'em.............
