Definitely not in competition with Native American jewelry--and I DEFINITELY don't want a stuffy lame boutique--I was thinking more like a consignment shop with high-quality handcrafted goods--jewelry, furniture, clothing, bags, etc...the kind of stuff you find on etsy.com.
I like the size of Edmond, but I don't know much else about it--Also, is the Blue Dome district of Tulsa a cool place to live?
Thanks again!

Beautiful stuff wired. The Blue Dome district is an entertainment district near downtown, but there are lofts in downtown Tulsa for rent, such as the Philtower lofts.

Then there are the more affordable apts at The Village at Central Park.

Good luck in wherever you end up!

Just from reading your posts I would say Tulsa, but OKC has some areas like the North Western area that has high quality boutiques, and both cities have a lot of appreciation for artwork. I don't really frequent them but they look nice from the outside. Your jewelry is very pretty too.
I think OKC may have a few more music venues, just because it is larger than Tulsa.

Okay, I think I've taken OKC out just because of it's size, and if my b-friend goes with me, it'll prob be Tulsa.
If I were to go alone, however, which one do you think--Edmond or Norman?
My budget for rentals is about $500-$750 for a house and I'd like to feel at least somewhat safe...which town would be better for that?
Also, does Edmond actually have a Main Street, or is it mostly new?
Where is there more music--Edmond or Norman (alternative, rock and rock)?
Thanks!
Cari

Both Edmond and Norman are very safe, beautiful areas. I love Norman but have not visited Edmond that much. I know it is a very upscale place. My guess is that Norman would have more music because it is a HUGE college town (University of Oklahoma).

I prefer Norman to Edmond. It just feels safer to me. To me it's kind of like a small town grown up big. It has a lot of good qualities of both. If I need to go to a larger town to shop, I always choose Norman.
Exquisite jewelry, by the way! Good luck with your move and with selling your jewelry here.

okay, I'm ready to hear more about Norman--anybody have pictures of their Main street?
How's the library there? That's where I currently work--the public library--I always said you can tell a lot about a town from their library. I like my job, but our library is seriously lacking...
Best bars in Norman for live rock/alternative?
Best neighborhoods?
Also, is there anywhere to take jewelry classes--I noticed the Uof O doesn't have a jewelry degree program but Edmond does...very interesting.
Good arts classes in Norman at the art center?
Thanks!

Sorry, just don't know the answers to your questions!
Some pics of downtown Norman are on this thread: http://www.city-data.com/forum/oklah...town-pics.html
Most things in Norman revolve around OU. OU has a good library. You would probably like living on the east side of Norman. It is fine except you have to plan Saturdays around the football traffic. I have more pics of Norman here, all of the east side, but remember most of them are right after a natural disaster.

That's perfect Peggy! Thanks so much! Norman looks awesome. Now I just have to convince my boyfriend to leave his $50,000 a year job to go with me I'm so sick of grand junction. Used to be you could get a decent house for $130,000-now because of all the oil workers moving in, that same house, with no repairs, is now $215,000. It's completely ridiculous. And there's nothing to do here, and wages haven't gone up at all. I fear GJ is heading for another recession--the locals can't even afford apartments anymore--one bedrooms have gone from $400 to $600 almost overnight.
I just hope by the time I get to Norman, prices won't have increased!
