I think this is the place where many rental properties in Norman can be found: Mr Robert Furniture

He owns a furniture store, and many rental units. The furniture store is where you go to ask about rentals. I think so. My daughter rents from him and I will ask her over the weekend.

If you are leaving GJ, what difference does it make if the prices have increased?
Finding a good job in Norman/OKC is not difficult. At least that is what I hear. I haven't done a job interview in decades.
But if your BF won't come with you, I wouldn't worry about it. Bringing a bf/gf to Oklahoma is like bringing a sandwich to a banquet.

Wish I could convince Scott of that. He still pines for his gf, and his flying back next month for a week to see her and go to her prom.

What is Scott's gf doing after she graduates from high school? Maybe she could go to school in OK?

Don't I wish. She's going to Rider University in NJ. Her father won't let her live at school (that's a whole other story), so she's restricted on where she can go. With her grades and extra curricular activities, she could get a scholarship just about anywhere. She was interviewed by Princeton and Harvard, but pops squelched that idea right away.
I'm hoping when Scott goes to OCCC in the fall he'll meet other people (i.e. girls), and they will slowly drift apart.

That would be the best thing, looks like. He will be meeting new girls when he starts at OCCC.
To get back on topic, it is really great we have so many choices in OK for our kids, like OCCC, OU, UCO, Rose State, and OSU, and many others. There are choices for every one and every circumstance.

I'm continuously amazed at all the good news the oklahoma city/tulsa area is getting as far as lack of crime, great prices, etc..it sounds like paradise!
As far as Norman goes, what's the crime like there? I know our university towns tend to have a higher rape rate than other places--and it looks like I'll indeed be doing this alone, at least as first..at this point I"m completely torn between Stillwater, Norman and Edmond. Stillwater seems to have a fairly good music scene, too, although not as good as Norman.
Is there a homeless problem in any of those places? GJ is only 45,000 but the homeless are everywhere and constantly on street corners and hang out in the library all day--which wouldn't be so bad if they would bathe. There's no way even in this small town I would walk down Main street by myself at night.
another thing I'm worried about is a good job (10-12$ hourly). I don't want to be a waitress, but I'm not a full-fledged professional, either. There aren't any public library jobs that I can find, but maybe they'd hire me if I showed up
Rent has to be on the cheap side, and crime rate low--those are really my main factors.
Thanks all for the advice!
