Where to go? Edmond, Norman, Tulsa, OKC?
Ugh...I've done so much research, I'm plum dizzy. I currently live in western Colorado and am considering a move to OK to be closer to my family.
I'm early 30's, so am really sick of not having anything to do (bands, museums, etc.) and I'm also a jewelry designer with not many outlets around here for selling wares.
Ideally I'd like a place that is relatively safe, pretty, affordable, and progressive as far as the arts are concerned--or just supportive of local artists--cool boutiques to sell at, etc.
I've done a TON of research here on the forums, but still having a hard time narrowing it down--it's so hard when you've never seen a place!
I like alternative music--and I like to be able to see shows during the week, too. I want to possibly start my own artsy boutique in the near future, too.
Safe is certainly a big deal for me, since I might be alone when I first get there. If/when my boyfriend does move, he's in the newspaper biz, so that's important, too.
Any thoughts on which place would be best?
Thanks a bunch for your input!

dizzy eh? Sounds like you are suited for Oklahoma
Not sure about the jewelry design business. I guess you are not competing with the Navajo there so Indian Jewelry is not your forte. Not sure what kind of boutique you would be opening either........do they sell platinum and diamonds in boutiques? Or do you have to be one of those stuffy people with funny accents that talk about clarity and brilliance in a locked room with too much champaign in front of you?
Safe is relative......if you are from the western slope, you can handle about anything this part of the country can offer. And you are only as alone as you want to be.
I would think Guthrie would be about as good as it got for you........a classic community with lots and lots of historic attributes, Not too far from either OSU, OU, and Langston U.........
Tell us more about the kind of jewelry you make.....got any photos?
If you want, come visit me and Schousse, then you can hang out in all the areas you think you might like and see what is available.........see what feels like home for you.

Well, from skimming your post, I would say OKC is right for you. They have a deep appreciation for the arts.

Tulsa would be my choice. They also have a deep appreciation for the arts, as evidenced with world class museums such as the Philbrook and Gilcrease, and it is a very beautiful area.
Tulsa!

I like the idea of Guthrie--I did see that--but too small.
My jewelry is here: Wired Originals, Handcrafted Sterling Silver Jewelry by Cari Taylor
Definitely not in competition with Native American jewelry--and I DEFINITELY don't want a stuffy lame boutique--I was thinking more like a consignment shop with high-quality handcrafted goods--jewelry, furniture, clothing, bags, etc...the kind of stuff you find on etsy.com.
I like the size of Edmond, but I don't know much else about it--Also, is the Blue Dome district of Tulsa a cool place to live?
Thanks again!

It's cool, yuppie, I like it. I think there were going to be some condos going in the area here soon. It's kind of run down though, it doesn't even compare to OKC's bricktown. Really neat looking jewelry by the way.
