Durant area summer weather/humidity
Hi,
I'm interested in learning about the summer weather and humidity in the Durant area.
I've already looked up charts for it, but what I'm looking for is descriptions of what the heat, humidity, etc. feel like - i.e., is it unbearably hot and muggy in the summer or breezy and comfortable, etc. Are there terrible mosquitoes, etc.?
Thank you

In my opinion, the summer weather in Durant is unbearably hot and muggy. Mosquitoes can be a problem some years, when there is a lot of rain. You can always just do what I do, stay in the air conditioning.
Lawton, Duncan, Enid, Kingfisher and Woodward are examples of towns that would have lower humidity and be more breezy in the summer, because they are in western Oklahoma.

I went to college down there many years ago. To me it's hot like any other place in OKlahoma. Hot is hot. Muggy is muggy...with the exception that horrible muggy to me was my experiences in New Orleans and Alabama...basically the South. The winters in Durant are more mild compared to the rest of our state.

Agreed, everywhere in Oklahoma is very hot in the summer. The west is slightly hotter but slightly lower humidity and the east is slightly cooler with slightly more humidity, so it all balances out. Winter varies more in the state, Durant, Altus, Ardmore, Idabel, etc are about as warm as you can get while Bartlesville, Ponca City, Alva, Woodward, etc are about as cool as you can get.
