The town is so tiny, there's not much to say about it. My goodness, why don't people simply live in the same town they work in, unless they demand a home in the countryside?

Actually, I have never heard of it to be honest. Doesn't mean that's a bad thing though, good luck and I hope you enjoy it!

Sasakwa is a quiet little town in some hills to the northwest of Ada. I've driven through there many times. It should be safe, there's not much there. I'm assuming that you got a house in Sasakwa pretty cheap.

Be advised, there is not much there. For grocery shopping and such you'll probably want to drive to Konowa or Ada. Holdenville is close the way the crow flies, but to get there by highway is much farther. I hope this helps.

Sasakwa is quiet, in a scenic area. The town needs to be cleaned up as far as junk & old buildings, IMO. Here are some pics I took out the window of the car last winter. The people in the area will be friendly and nice.

I used to commute through that quaint little town for a couple of years. The road going to Ada from Sasakwa can be treacherous during the winter. Its a winding road and gets icy. But you will be close to a casino! A small one though.

I can't believe anyone would move there, and I don't mean that as a put down. Just from what I have seen, it looks like the sort of place where kids can't wait to move out of when they come of age.

I never heard anything bad about it. And I am glad the city got that one house on the hwy cleaned up. MY GOD, it was an eyesore. Sooo trashed out. It was right on the outside curve on the eastern edge of town.

Thanks. Yes, that is what we like. We both come from small population towns(under 150 people) and loved them. Thanks again

I'm not trying to discourage you or anything, and I again, I am not putting Sasakwa down, but I think you should visit there before you jump.

I have heard some people say it is backwards, with very poor people, not extremely well-educated. And for the most part, people commute to surrounding towns to work. Those aren't my impressions, because all I did was drive through it. A very close friend of ours was born there.

I know someone who went to teach elementary school. I don't think they have a high school.

Anita Bryant's family was from therebouts.

Sasakwa means goose in the Native language, Creek & Seminole. There is a historic graveyard there where John Brown, governor of the Seminole Nation, and his family are buried. The foundation and some ruins of his mansion are still there too. There is a historic church there, Spring Creek I think. The whole town of Sasakwa was moved when the railroad was built. Sasakwa does at least have a fire department with a modern truck. It has one little store/gas station.
