How ironic that this would occur on Picher's 90th birthday.

How sad!!! I didn't realize it was their anniversary.

The weather channel has been giving reports on this and the pics are awful. My sympathies go out to all the people who were affected by this. What an awful storm!!!

The death toll could have been SO MUCH worse. Picher is a mostly deserted community, as it is a super fund site and most of the residents were re-located.

So true... Just got off the phone with our son, his friend's family is one of the few that are still in the area. Thankfully all they lost was their car.

Thoughts and Prayers to all that are still there, and have lost so much already.

I have never felt jaded by weather warnings. We just try and keep alert as possible. It's the storms that come at night, the rain-wrapped tornados, when you can't visually see them, those are the ones that scare me the most.

We all know the devastation that comes with the tornados when they DO touch down. My thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost loved ones in these storms. It really is sad.

Wow! I need to watch the news a little more. I just now read up on all the catter about Picher Oklahoma.

I'm always sorry to hear that a snigle life is lost when one of these things touch down. But, you are correct about one thing Redbird, its the ones that you don't see and hear that are the scariest. I've lived through a few of them, in Oklahoma and Ohio and they never sees to amaze me of their destructive force and power.

Our prayers go out to the families and freinds of the victims

I know a lot of Okie people. From Guymon to Ardmore to Tulsa to Altus. Dad has relatives in Enid I visit whenever I can. Have a good friend in Del City I have known since grade school. All have one this in common; friendly, God fearing, and down to earth. And they are tough as nails. Oklahoma will rally around themselves, and will get through this.
