Default Ride a Bike to Work kicks off on Friday

Green Traveler: Go Green - Save Green!

Quote:
This Friday, May 16th from 7-9 AM, on National Bike to Work Day, commuters are encouraged to ride to work, and if it is convenient, to attend INCOG's Bike to Work Kick-Off. New and experienced commuters traveling by bike are encouraged to stop by on their way to work for coffee and snacks, provided by Doubleshot Coffee Company, and meet other bike commuters at Maple Park near 15th between Madison and Cincinnati (404 E 15th, Tulsa,) on the newly extended Midland Valley Trail.
INCOG=Indian Nation Council of Governments

Friday begins National Bike Week. You don't have to be in Tulsa to do this. You just won't get coffee from Doubleshot if you aren't. If I weren't 40 miles from Tulsa that would be a good way to get to and from Mayfest this weekend.

I wonder what would happen if I started riding horses all the time instead of driving my pickup truck.............

If there were no cars or trucks on the roads, just bikes and horses, we would all be healthier both physically and mentally.

Not really an option, I drive 45 min to work.. and again home everyday. It is 20 miles one way and I would have to leave about 2hrs earlier than I already do and get home about 2 hrs later. Would be one thing if I was single and had no life, but that is extra time I get to 1: sleep, 2: spend time with my wife and kids.

Could I get a closer job or move closer to town? yes, but I prefer to live in the country and have a pretty darn good job.

Dont get me started on the price of gas and the oil companies who keep reporting record profits.....

Lightbulb Scooter and Motorcycles!

July 16, 2008 is Ride to Work Day (annually it's the third Wednesday in July) and Tulsa is the first city in Oklahoma to endorse it!

There will be a rider's breakfast that morning at the Savoy. Motorcycle aren't just for recreation, they make sense for transportation also.

Visit Two Wheel Oklahoma for more info!

They didn't do city planning well enough to be able to ride a bike everywhere. We have to depend on cars, but of course horse and buggies would still work. Bet those Amish are laughing at us now.

I wouldn't ride a bike for fear of being hit or falling and breaking a hip. Would not ride a horse for the same reason, but a horse and buggy would do, providing the horse didn't take off it a dead run, hit a rock and cause me to fall off. Old age is so wonderful. New fears replacing old ones. Ha.

There are some nice 3-speed 3-wheel bikes with cargo baskets and little trailers to pull behind. Or in GP's case, he could train a team of little oxen and pull a wagon. ;-)
