That has been my experience since I moved here. Everyone I talk to about my move here from NJ always asks the same thing (in different ways): "Do you really like it here?" When I assure them I certainly do, they are very, very pleased. Reminds me almost of a kid who hasn't had too much praise in his life, getting acknowledged for something he did well. I guess OK has had some bad reps over the years.

Yeh, part of that is being so close to Texas.....which has kind of a larger than life persona in the minds of Americans from all over the United States. It's similar with Arkansas; a lot of times OK and AR get overlooked because of our proximity to TX. Many of my buds from AR have said they always kind of felt like they were from "Texas Jr." Obviously, for any Okies that have deep roots in the Sooner State such a thought is repugnant....we're proud to be Okies, but some of this pride (that many out-of-staters experience) is a result of the unbridled arrogance of many folks from Texas. That's why it is always so fun to spank the Shorthorns in the Red River Shootout.....knock that chip off of those Texans' shoulders a bit

I get asked the same question, as if I am going to say no. Mostly the questions are How do you like Oklahoma, Have you been here in the summer yet. I tell them I like it and no I haven't been here in the summer and then they laugh.....kinda scary

Congratulations on your home closing by the way. I think I read that on another forum.

Scary is the word. Were they thinking of the flash floods of one Oklahoma summer or the scorching heat, drought and flash brush fires of another summer?

I have no idea....thats what is puzzling. Is it a welcome laugh or a just wait and see laugh. I have seen the ice storm, a little of the flooding and wouldnt want to see the brush fires I dont think.

Are you sure you're not talking about Scranton, Pa? If the world ended today, they people in Scranton would have, at least, another 25 years to live.

You know with the way the world is today, being 25 years behind the times is not necessarily a bad thing. Welcome to the OK forum!
