Talking My hubby is whining about the weather!!

My better half (yeah, right,I love him but) is watching the weather channel and the national news and noting we never have bad weather here in Oregon-just rain or drizzle with clouds and no sun.I hate having no sun for months.Summers are gorgous here,I expect him to be anti moving till October when the rain starts up again.I wouldn't move him to OK in the summer anyway, you need to let the heat creep up on you!! I love weather, thunderstorms and ice storms and all the other interesting stuff.Tornado's or the idea of them disturb him.He lived in Florida for 4 years and hurricanes don't bother him.I'd like to hear from some people who moved there about the weather and how they feel about it.Don't mind hearing from the natives either-still want to know if housing stalls or dips during tornado season if that is a good time to buy!! He wants me to look at West Virginia-I don't want to do the east coast.I like Oklahoma !!

The wind has been blowing real fierce both night and day in Oklahoma for the past several days. Hopefully, the next front due to be in soon will settle the wind down and not create too many tornadoes. Why like ice storms? It disfigures the trees and harder to drive on than snow, not to mention the possible nuisance of power outages and try to keep warm through a long one.

We moved from the east coast to OK at the end of February. We don't really have any complaints about the weather. The one thing we did notice was the wonderful amount of sunshine here. It does tend to be windy, but the severe weather hasn't really affected us except for the constant interruptions on the TV.

I've lived n Oklahoma all my life, and the weather here is fine with me. I have only been in one tornado (in the '70s), but the wind does seem to blow here all the time. Today is particularly windy, and the probability of storms is very high, so you'd be "interested" today!! It gets really hot here in the summers, and the winters can be extremely cold, but the extreme cold may only last a few days. On the whole, I think Oklahoma winters are fairly mild compared to other states--except when the ice storms hit. They can be brutal. Tornadoes are predicted here fairly accurately now, so they don't worry us "veterans" too much. Also, in my southwestern Oklahoma town the housing industry doesn't seem to be suffering much. Homes seem to be sold and bought without many problems. Compared to the East Coast, I'd choose Oklahoma to live every time!!!!

Oh I used to live in OK and now am suffering in Seattle, so I get it!! Enough with the rain and 50 degree temps already. It's June for land's sake! I personally like the variety of OK weather and there are too many pluses to the move anyway. In fact, I'm currently planning my escape from the dreary PacNW!!!

Believe me, you'd rather wait until the Fall....
Your husband will not be happy with the heat here...

It was 98 degrees Tuesday...
I can't remember the last time I saw that...
I think I was in my 20s.

I WILL however say that the heat here is more bearable than
heat was in New England... It's a bit less humid...
So far...
Although it pretty humid today...
But there's a nice wind, so it's bearable.

As far as the storms go...
You get used to it...
All the weather warnings will make you get jaded pretty quickly....

Losing power for 23 hours last weekend was kind of a drag,
but there were other who lost it for days, so I'm not going to whine too hard...

Does any of this scare you?

Don't let it...

If you read back a ways, you'll see that I'm on a mission
to keep the Okie population down and discourage
any more people from either coast from migrating here.
(Like I did...)

Just kidding....
Sort of...

You've been here long enough to understand the humor here.

BTW...
Feel free to send that 50 degree weather this way...
I'd appreciate it.

P.S.
Almost forgot to mention all the bugs and snakes!

You missed the "lovely" ice storm in December then....hopefully you won't have to live through that. That was my "welcome to Oklahoma" initiation.
