Keep that in mind when your favorite program is being pre-empted. You may be affected by being inconvenienced, but that family with two children that is in the path of the storm are quite happy when they are able to take shelter because of those meteorologists.
I know; I've had to take that shelter, even though the storm skipped over me.

The weather preemptions are usually more interesting than most of the rubbish on TV.

They do interupt tv alot for weather reports. I was surprise the night of the American Idol finale we were on Tornado watch and they only went to the weather during the commercials. I was happy about that!

I have learned to turn the d*mn weather radio off on stormy nights though...
After the tornado warning, there's really no reason to keep being alerted
and waken up constantly...
Since there's no scaredy hole here, and I'm not the kind of guy that would
flee to a public shelter in the middle of the night,
I've developed a fatalistic attitude about tornadoes....
I don't worry too much....
If we're good with God, we're OK either way...
(Pun intended.)
If I had any real fear of the storms, I couldn't live here.

My thoughts exactly. I hear those loud thunderstorms and do worry about a tornado following. The only night that the tornado siren went off a few weeks ago, I didn't even hear it. It was not very loud and such a mono tone sounding siren that if my husband didnt wake me up,I would of slept through it.
I do enjoy the when the whole sky lights up. I had never seen that before in Utah.

I am thankful we have a fraidy hole in our living room in a trap door. Of course if the house topples down on top of it we couldnt get out. I as used to basements. This no basement thing is really hard to adjust too.

I used to sleep right through the HUGE sounding thunderstorms in the White Mountains because they were relatively harmless.
In OK storms take on a whole new meaning...
If I lived alone, I'd still sleep through them,
I still tend to go right back to sleep...
But I'm responsible for 3 other people, so I HAVE to pay attention
and check out the situation...
Back in MA, we were at a hotel in Cape Cod and the fire alarm went off....
My wife got all upset when I wanted to go back to sleep...
My reasoning was that the place had cement between rooms....
(Turned out to be some clown set off fireworks in the stairwell.)
I live on the border of 2 counties, so I get 2 sirens here...
It's like living in England during WW-II.
But like I said, I don't worry too much about the alerts and sirens
these days...

OK...
I'll cut you a tad of slack because your daughter tried out for it,
but still...
If you tell me you watch "Dancing With The Stars" I may end up losing respect for you altogether.

Do not like dancing with the stars...I am not old enough to watch that yet....ha ha. My mother does however. I did watch it a couple times when Priscilla Presley was still on.(man she had a face lift) I do love 'So you think you can dance', which started the day after idol was over.
Hey plus the guy that won American Idol lived in Tulsa....and the runner up was from Utah...I had to watch it...those are my states.
