People have posted on other forums that in 3.2% beer the alcohol is measured by volume and in "six point" beer it is measured by weight. They have said that "six point" beer is actually a little over 4% by volume.

I realize that alc. by vol. is diff. than alc. by weight, but I'm not sure what values are for each category. For example, Dogfish Head 90 Minute is 9% alc., but I'm not sure if by weight or volume.

The point is that even if "real beer" is 3.3% and the weak beer is 3.2%, why mess w/ the formula? It's retarded for these states to force only sales of lower strength beer. And if the liquor store still wants to sell the real beer, than they have to keep it at room temp. Dumb law.

I agree. It was just a joke.

All it takes to change a law is enough public support to change it. Until then.... hit the package store. We always did. I have never bought 3.2 in my life. What's the point.

When I was a drinker, I wanted to catch a buzz!

Unless things have changed a lot, alcohol is by percentage of volume. 3.2 been is 6.4 proof. 86 proof whisky is 43%, rum - the really potent stuff used to make hot buttered 151 - is 151 proof, or 75.5%. Everclear is just straight alcohol, and you don't want to drink that! It's best for spiking pounches that one doesn't want the flavor of anything else to interfere with.

I realize the definition of proof. That's not what I was asking. I was asking about if "normal beer" is alc. by weight or vol.

I've had Everclear (grain alcohol) before, but not straight up. That would nearly suicidal.

It's always percentage of volume. Otherwise, different size cans would have different percentages. A 'normal' beer has the same percent of alcohol whether it's in an 8 oz can, a pounder, or a keg. Quantity doesn't matter. Or at least it matters only so far as how much or how many you drink. It's the same as with a pint or quart or fifth or single of whisky.

But I have to say I've had some home brew that could kick you into the middle of next week. I tried making a batch once, and all the bottles exploded, so I'll never know how that would have been.

Sad waste of a lot of perfectly good Grolsch bottles. After that, I used the rest of the malt syrup for baking and the remaining bottles for salad dressings. The goat got the hops, and her milk tasted a bit funny for awhile.

I've never been with the world of "drinkin' fanatics" like you'll are

What contents are used in "Malt Liquor"? It sounds like the leftovers from all the head spinning Kool-Aids.
