I am so sorry to hear that. I love horses too. It is hard enough thinking about our dogs growing old and dying someday.

I'm so sorry LR & Synopsis. It really hurts when we lose one of our friends. We lost a very special kitty last week, and I miss her very much.

Robyn, I'm so sorry to hear that. I know just how you and Synopsis feel because the furry ones are family members and not just "animals or pets". Their company is often superior to that of the human race. They just seem to love us unconditionally. Those are beautiful pics and beautiful horses. When I was growing up, we had two horses and they looked so much like yours do.

Unhappy Sorry

Hey LadyRobyn,

Sorry to hear about your families loss, our thoughts are with you and yours. I know that when Bjb and I lost our Maggie "14 yr old Black Lab" and Spook "Big Black Cat" it was hard and we still miss them deeply . But we find much comfort in the thought that when we pass-on someday, we'll be all together once again.

Redbird, Thank-you that was beautiful...

Thanks again all, I appreciate the thoughts.

Syn, Bingo...that's a classic. Hubby had a pup they called Dee-Oh-Gee

Eventually I will probably put all of the pictures I have of Dixie and SweetPea into a slide-show set to music for Mom and Dad... They wanted me to do some "Glamour" shots of the girls this summer when they were all sleek and pretty. I have some pretty good shots already that will make them smile...

Peggy, I'm so sorry! When our Scarlet passed last year I couldn't even post about it... the words just wouldn't come.

Jammie and SeaBee... Most of our pets have been more like family than "pets"... and they behave better than our kids too.

Sorry for your loss LR....

I've only had one pet that I've lost, but we still talk about him
15 years later, so I know how you feel.

My Nieces grew up around those horses, and love them dearly so I KNOW they would be just as spoiled down there... but my heart was still a little sad. Those horses have been a part of our family for over 20 years and I have always called them my 4-footed hairy sisters...

They were supposed to go down to TX tomorrow...

But my Dad just called a little while ago. Dixie started acting sick, so they took her (and SweetPea) to the vet... They thought she had colic or maybe a twisted gut...but nothing they tried helped her. In the end they decided it was best to put her down. Dad left SweetPea there overnight, so she will know what happened... Those 2 have been together most of their lives.

Rest in peace Old Girl...you will be missed more than you know.

Sweet Dreams Freckle face...

Sorry to hear about that. She's the image of my 'best friend' when I was just starting school... she lived just a couple short blocks away and I got to visit her daily.

I've had countless pets over the years, more dogs than anything else, and it's aways a gut-wrencher to have to put them down, even when you know it's the last and best thing you can do for them.
