Wow!
Thank you all so much for your very informative and honest responses. I really can't tell you how much I appreciate them!! (Reps to all soon!)
I wasn't really sure if people would take the time, I realize I had written a ton of questions. It's nice to see that all of you former Californians have really become Oklahomans....no CA person would take the time
Take Care!

Hey, congratulations to you mkfarnam and your family! Good for you. I think we might be stuck here for a bit. We really want to be in the right financial situation when we make the move. We'd really like to take it slow, and not be desperate for a job the second we move. Plus, my husband owns his own business and it's hard to just pick up and move. He is a commercial general contractor, and wouldn't just drop a contract with jobs not finished. We also have to keep it under the radar, as we can't afford to scare off good clients.
Redbird: I tried to rep you, but apparently I must spread it around a bit. I do have a question for you though. Is there any racial tension between Native Americans and "whites." I ask because there is so much here between "whites" and Mexicans. Really, how do people know? My husband is a decendent of Quannah Parker, but he's blue eyed with light brown hair, much more Irish. Apparently, I am 1/16 Cherokee, but I look Italian or Greek. I just want to live in a place where people are valued just because they are human beings, and deserve respect until they prove otherwise. Does that make sense?

That's exactly what my dad does (commercial construction and land development). Don't know where in the state you might be looking to live but DM me if you need more details about that industry in Oklahoma or if you all need to make some contacts.

Thank you Mrs_Moby! I'll let my husband know. It's very nice of you to offer.
Now see, you wouldn't get that around here... And, we love it. My husband and I are much friendlier than most people around here, we both love to strike up conversations with people. I think we would probably fit in fine. We love having friends from all different walks of life.

True that. Perhaps stuck on a "freeway". Of course, I don't know how "free" it is when you're not moving burning 0 mpg at $5/ga. People are uptight because of the things going on around them, it makes them crazy. I know it will be a while for my paranoia to wear off or maybe it never will. CA might have scarred me for life.
