Cool A really nice program...

There is a program in Oklahoma that affects everyone but it definitely shows how desperate the State of Oklahoma is to keep kids at home.
Oklahoma's Promise.

OSRHE : Oklahoma's Promise - Oklahoma Higher Learning Access Program

Sign up in 8Th, 9Th, or 10Th grades, made a C average, take the required classes which really isn't more than you need for college tracked anyway, maintain a 2.0 until a sophomore in college then a 2.5, gotta be a state resident and US citizen, parents need to make under 50k a year, THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA WILL PAY FULL TUITION FOR A PUBLIC COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY. Now that is quite a deal.

My oldest daughter is attending a week long academy at OSU Tech School with the Gear Up Summer Academy's. It is 100% sponsored by Oklahoma Regents for Higher Ed, I was real impressed with the orientation and best of all it is FREE for the kids to attend. They are going to see Phantom of the Opera at the PAC, Frontier City, tour the OSU/Stillwater campus, tour the Tulsa Airport, more things than I can list. Food, drinks, snacks, admissions, and I don't know what all else. FREE. Considering I am paying over $300 for one Girl Scout Camp this year and I have 2 daughters going, academic camp for freeeeeeeee is a good deal. Focusing on math and sciences.

I hope the program does what is intended Okpondlady. Oklahoma does need to focus on keeping young people in the state. Most, like me, left when they were young and have never really gotten back. If there would have been opportunity for me in Oklahoma... Let me rephrase that...

If I were smart enough to take advantage of the opportunity in Oklahoma when I was younger I would have never left. If I would have listened to the older folks like I should have I would have been rich by now.

I think what the state is doing regarding free tuition for the young Oklahomans is awesome, but, the key to keeping them is AFTER they graduate. My son is a good example, he's a senior at OSU and will get his degree in Chemical Engineering. He has an outstanding GPA and no doubt get alot of good offers. I'm not sure he'll stay in the state, he will if there are good enough jobs that pay well. If not then he'll hit the road, sadly!

I don't have any stinking things I need to get rid of okpondlady. Well, actually I might have a few years ago but getting rid of that stinking thinking has improved my life immensely.

It's a quote from a local radio host down here in DFW on the weekends. His radio program is the real life attitude guy. But it is not to remind myself as much as it is to convey positive thinking to others out there.

It's funny that you ask the question, because I just sent a DM to someone very close to me about those feelings.

I dislike negativity and think it only breeds more negativity. Positive thinking is a very powerful force; that and more importantly, prayer.

So, to answer your question, it's a message to others out there, as well as something to remind myself to always think positive. It's made a huge difference in my life for sure, and thank you for asking.
