Ha. I remember those crazy streets in Tulsa. I think as you're coming into town from OKC on the freeway, there is a stretch where your car shakes when driving. I kept hearing this "da-thump-da-thump" noise and thought I had a flat. I pulled over only to realize it was the sucky road!!! HA HA

One of the things about OKC that looks neat is their Myriad Gardens. They also have concerts during the summertime. But like I said, we've never been to OKC, but have been to Tulsa and like it there.

Someone (maybe Stillwater Townie?) has pics posted of Stillwater and it looks nice, too.

Whats up Jammie. There are more parks in OKC than one would think. Will Rogers to Lake Hefner to Martin Nature Park. Tulsa would obviously have the 'edge' on this one, but I think most know that I hate to get into Tulsa vs. OKC. It gets old. Apples and oranges.

Personally I cant stand Stillwater (I lived there for 3 yrs. so I know) but maybe it is changing for the best like OKC. OSU now has a no spitting tobacco policy, so Im sure it will clean up the campus. Hopefully the town will follow...

I am excited about the NBA coming to OKC! No city totally stinks if the NBA is in town. So I think that is enough proof that OKC is rising and rising fast.

A "no spitting tobacco policy?" Theyjust now have it? I hope you're just being sarcastic, that they've never actually had to pass any such ordinance. Just that line right there almost completely turns me off from Stillwater.

You're right. Congrats OKC!

Tulsa is also building a statue larger than the Statue of Liberty and the Vulcan. At least it's supposed to according to the guide of Vision 2025.

Both cities are rising and fast, but OKC seems to be rising just a little bit faster.

I hope they dont build that indian statue or the giant oil derrick in okc. Both look silly. But whatever. They both need major state funds and I believe the indian has been shelved. My friends dont want the indian and they are true blue tulsans. To give you an idea about the indian...okc passed on it. Most OKCers dont want the oil monument either...

Simply do as I have always done to avoid the college crowd by not living in a neighborhood next to OSU.

If Oklahoma is narrow minded, then why does it have at least one gay legislator, plus one of its state wide elective office holders is gay? Oklahoma has come a long way since 2000 in being less backward and less third world like. But it still has a ways to go.

Anyone who thinks Oklahoma roads are congested and over crowded must have never tried driving through the Dallas-Ft. Worth metro area.

They need to try and drive around Cleveland or Columbus Ohio .
And, I don't care if people are gay or not, just as long as they don't try the "in your face" approach. When holding a public offices, they seem to be the ones that take they're jobs more seriously. Oklahoma seems to be on the progresseive track, unlike some other backward states, which I won't name .

Stillwater has does have non OSU related things to do. There are so many events and shows at the Expo Center at the Payne County Fairgrounds, I wouldn't be surprised if a hotel gets built near there. A variety of things happen there such as a Celtic festival and womens' roller derby. Several years ago there I went to a cat show for the first time and enjoyed it.

Boomer Lake Park is a very nice place to go to exercise by walking or bicycling on the sidewalk that circles the lake.

One of the best ways to get away from the college crowd is to join grass roots activist organizations. College students generally avoid them like the plague.

Some poorly uninformed people may disagree, but Stillwater is certainly more than a college town and so has a blue collar side to go with it since it has an industrial section of at least a half dozen huge plants. Many people would be totally surprised to learn that this is where Rolling Stone and ESPN magazines are printed and mailed to subscribers everywhere.

And Stillwater hopes to become Oklahoma's next metro area if the 2010 census takes it over 50,000.

That statue is and has been dead in the water for some time, thank goodness. I agree with you completely HT.

The streets in Tulsa DO suck, and I hope they get them fixed in the near future. I drove around on google street view and I'll not close my eyes to the disaster that is the streets in Tulsa.

Please Tulsa, fix those streets, please..
