Our wedding Anniversary is Sept. 4th and Im looking for somewhere to go for a few days. Our last Anniversary my husband was in Iraq, so I want to make this a special one. We love outdoors, parks, mesuems etc. We will be taking our 16 year old son with us, so it has to be kid friendly. Anyone have any ideas, we have only been stationed in Oklahoma since May, we are in the Lawton area. Thank you!!

Oooh! So many choices. You could stay in Sulphur, lots of lodging options there, and maybe visit Turner Falls (broken link).

Good call LadyRobyn. Turner Falls is a lot of fun.....it's kinda like a ultra small version of Shcliterbaun (<-----probably misspelled) in the Hill Country of Texas. There are some decent BBQ joints in Sulphur and Davis.

ArmyWife...my wife's family is from the Altus area and they have always enjoyed the Quartz Mountain area. Might be worthy looking into. Good luck

Greenleaf State Park......low cost cottages built by the WPA (during WWII it was an officers club for the nearby POW camp), a tranquil lake with speed limits, excellent fishing, paddle boats and canoes are available.

Oklahoma Parks, Resorts & Golf (http://www.touroklahoma.com/cabins.asp - broken link)

I found this while I was looking for the Cabins at Lake Eufaula. Apparently they have either been sold or are not renting this season for some reason.
