THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TULSA HAS ISSUED A HEAT ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THURSDAY FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...

IN OKLAHOMA...
OSAGE...WASHINGTON...NOWATA...PAWNEE...TULSA...ROG ERS...CREEK...WAGONER.

HEAT INDEX VALUES OF AROUND 1O5 DEGREES ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON AND AGAIN THURSDAY AFTERNOON AS TEMPERATURES SOAR INTO THE UPPER 90S TO NEAR 100 DEGREES. THESE TEMPERATURES COMBINED WITH THE HIGH RELATIVE HUMIDITY WILL CREATE THE HEAT INDEX VALUES OF AROUND 105 DEGREES.

THIS HEAT ADVISORY MAY BE UPGRADED TO AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING AS TEMPERATURES ARE FORECASTED TO EXCEED THE CENTURY MARK ACROSS MUCH THE ADVISORY AREA THIS WEEKEND.

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE POSSIBLE. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.
Just think, another couple of weeks of heat (unless Doris cools us down and gives us a good soaking) then it is only about 5 months till we get our 3 or 4 weeks of winter.........

You do realize, that if you could get Texans to quit talking for a while, there would be so much less hot air being generated that the temperature there would drop 10 degrees? In fact, from what I have seen, pontificating Texans are the real cause of global warming............

We in Oklahoma will help silence a lot of them when we meet at the Cotton Bowl this year...............

I'd rather have the heat than ice storms. It's hotter here than in NJ, but the humidity is lower, so if you can get out of the direct sun, it's bearable. We're still not putting on the A/C until about 8:00 at night.
