Fantastic German restaurant in Choctaw
I am a little jaded where good food is concerned. Sometimes, on our appraisal trips throughout the state, we encounter true gems.
Here is the best kept secret in Oklahoma ..... the Old Germany restaurant in Choctaw. The owners moved here from German in the 70s, with the result that everything in the restaurant, from the decor to the food and the service, is authentically German. It even smells European.
It is definately worth a trip ..........................
They are holding Oktober Fest the first weekend in September ...... and since Choctaw is pretty much located in between Tulsa and OKC, how about a meeting there?

Yes, they import it. Paulaner Oktoberfest is our favorite.
We went there two or three times a month when we lived in SE OKC. We went twice for dinner and once for lunch when we were in town for a visit in April. Be aware that it's not cheap. Some of their foods are imported and they use high quality products wherever they buy. I can't remember exact prices from our last visit but I think the cordon bleu and beef tenderloin dishes were approaching $30. (Dinners include bread, soup or salad and a starch - spaetzle, mashed potatoes, fried potatoes, German cold potato salad, etc.)
Some of the dishes are cheaper (and just as good) with chicken or pork.
Lunch portions are smaller and cheaper.
It's a meeting spot for lots of people from Tinker AFB, just up the road a few miles. People from all over the country wanted to go, when they'd come to meetings. (I could never interest my European colleagues in going, though.) Lots of great parties there. The owners are wonderful.
We rarely went to Oktoberfest because we went to the restaurant so often. We preferred being inside...it's still very hot in Oklahoma in September.
If you go to the O'fest - be sure to do the Chicken Dance. Have a bier for Charlie and me.

I was gonna say I'm ready to party too, and if RB punks out maybe you guys could pick me up on the way. Then I looked at a map, and realized I wouldn't be on the way, I'd be a round trip.
Sigh.

Well, first of all we have to make sure RB goes. If he has some REALLY GOOD reason why he can't go, we will make sure you get there Kari. No problem.
