Cushing has a great Italian Restaurant called "Tuscany" where their smoked salmon ravioli is great. There is a great Lebanese Steakhouse (Freddie's) in Drumright. The new super walmart just east of town is going to open in a few days. With oil hitting close to $115, the oil industry is offering to send applicants to school, on their nickel, to learn how to do oil field work. There is a good truck driving school in Drumright at the vo-tech. There are also lots of ranchers in the area so the local FFA is pretty active. There is lots of competition between Cushing, Yale, Drumright, Perkins, etc in the roping arenas in the area. During the summer you can noodle in the Cimarron.

You can get a roof installed over the old one for about $250 a square. half again that for steel. and double that to strip and apply plus any damaged decking.

Thanks. I did read there is a hospital so there should be a gp or two. I have a friend who lives in Cushing which is one reason for my interest. Part of the idea is to get away from cities.

I can drive, but in the traffic here in socal don't want to. Without the rush I could handle driving. If there was enough $$ to support a car it would be worth looking into.

Your right about a roof. I've been there although we didn't know at the time. We bought at the end of a three year drought, and it hardly rained before the house guarentee was up....then it rained and rained. And we discovered the roof had been in bad shape when we bought the house. Live and learn.

I think it is like a cafeteria plan, where the employee has an allowance and can pick the benefits they need. Hope your name comes up soon!

W

When I visit I'll have to make sure i check out the place. Sounds soooo yummy.

And also thanks about the roof info. I know when ours here in Calif was discovered to be rotten underneath (after the year guarentee was up) its was rather costly. But i did learn a lesson.

Really looking forward to my visit next month.

Ok, another question....

I was looking at the city info on the main site. And the temp curve is between 90 and 100 in the summer. And then, just to see, I checked Riverside CA where I live.... and it was the same. But 95 would be a day to celebrate with our norm of 110 in the summer.

So, just how accurate is the roughly 95 degree on the one for Cushing?

thanks

I'd say an average summer day in Cushing would be 95. It can get hotter than that. 110 would be a record breaker though. I have lived in OK a long time, but when we travel somewhere else, even in the south, I am always surprised by how much cooler the evenings are elsewhere in the summer.

OKC average gets up to 94 (I think Tulsa is 93 or 94), so to be technical Cushing is probably 93 or 94 as well. "Lows" near 70.

I've always said Oklahoma has nice summer weather, from 2-8 in the morning...

My daughter is an RN at that hospital. She thinks the care is superior to Stillwaters. She lives in Perkins and could have been an RN at either hospital.

LOL I'd consider 94 rather good for the summer. 70 isn't bad for a low.

Wow, all this makes me wish I could pack up and move before summer... I can't wait to visit my friend who lives there in a couple of weeks!

I should email the site and tell them they need to update the Riverside info lol
