I am looking for
Hi, I am not sure if they still live in Sperry but I am looking for a couple who bred dogs, not sure if it was only boxers but it was about 10 years ago. Spears is the last name. Any help would be great. I am hoping that they might still have boxers.

Do you remember the kennel name? I went to American Kennel Club's website, got referred to the American Boxer Club's breeder listing. U.S. Individual Boxer Related Web Sites
If you aren't able to locate them, I'd check regional and local Boxer Clubs in Oklahoma for additional listings. Or, you can contact one of the breeders and ask around. Breeders often network with each other.
Hope this helps.

You all are great! Thanks for your replies. The kennel that my dog went to from Sperry was Lambriar - according to the paperwork the address reads the kennel was in Mahaska KS.

Now that I did some research, even though I have my dogs pedigree papers I am very upset to learn that this kennel out in kansas is puppy mill, if I am reading correctly.

If you got a healthy happy dog, especially if it may have been from a puppy mill, just be grateful for your good fortune. If you were looking to get another one from the same breeder because you like the one you have so much, I would recommend contacting a rescue group. Most of them are fairly stringent in their requirements and will do a lot more in the way of finding out what kind of home you will be able to provide than a mill breeder - their major concern is more along the line of 'can you pay for it.' Rescue groups also do health and temperament testing and will tell you about any potential problems, such as if it's same-sex aggressive, won't tolerate cats, does/does not like children.
But also keep in mind that just because it came from Kansas, that doesn't mean it wasn't a legitimate breeder, rather than a mill. And good breeders frequently have more than one breed - but usually not more than two. Responsible breeders also show their dogs, and showing more than two breeds is difficult, logistically. And there are people who make a living - bunchers - who can be very slick at getting a puppy from a good breeder for resale to a pet store. I ended up with one of those about 25 years ago, and the woman who'd bred him went ballistic over the thought that she'd been played for a sucker, and one of her beloved babies ended up in a pet store. [No, I didn't buy him, someone else did and when they found out how big he was going to get, gave him to me.]

Hi karibear - I have the papers that say who were the breeders and where she went and so on.. In all honesty I am just hoping that is was out of good faith that she was at lambriar.. Long story short - It doesn't bother me that I got her from a petshop. She was the best dog I ever had. When I got her she had colitis but it cleared up after a good while. in 2004 we found some cancer on her. Got it removed and it kept coming back in other spots - it was all removable. This year she got cancer in her *****. Yes she was spayed.... Before I could even get that removed she was having accidents in the house and wasn't her usual self so the vet ran some blood and found that her kidneys were failing, In may they were functioning at 80%. By the end of June they went down alittle further. Then just 2 weeks ago they went down and she was not a happy girl. Had to do what I never wanted to do. I couldn't let her suffer anymore. I did my best to help her in return for being my best friend for 9 and 1/2 years...... I was searching for the breeders to see if I can find a chain linked to her. So that maybe I can find a breeder that has someone from her family. She was a good girl. Very friendly, I always worried about someone trying to take her that is how friendly she was. She was a wonderful boxer. I can't even put it in words what a wonderful girl she was in every way. ..

I am sorry for your loss, I've had to do that too, and it's always a heart-breaker. But it was also the last best thing you could do for her, you were her world. Someone on one of the old dog newsgroups said [or quoted from someone else] "Dogs enrich our lives, but we ARE our dog's life."

It SHOULD bother you. The suffering, abuse and misery connected to puppymills, where the pet stores get their animals, is undescribable. And by buying a dog from a pet store you contribute to that abuse.
