Default Muse area?

A good friend is planning her retirement to rural muse in leflore county. Someone talked her into it and she's all set to dive in, without even seeing or experiencing the area! Moving from Iowa and ready to build.

Wow. From what I can find it is absolutely beautiful in that area... but there is NOTHING there. She would be a good 20-30 miles away from the nearest small town (pop. 500 or so). Big Cedar is about 10 miles from Muse and here is a thread talking about it: http://www.city-data.com/forum/oklah...big-cedar.html

Sounds gorgeous, but I would need to be 30 years younger with a pack of hunting dogs and a big truck to consider living there! You know that doesn't sound so bad...

Muse sits in a tight valley between the winding stair mountains and the kiamichi mountains. Easily the prettiest area in the state. It is about 20 minutes to either Heavener or Talihina. Neither have much to offer. Probably 39 minutes to Mena which has most things they could need. There is a small store at Big Cedar and there is a school at Whitesboro.
