ride baby ride
Colleen47, We will have to ride. I like to movin on out, have a need for speed! Well at least before I started so many hours of work and can no longer put time into keeping my horse in shape.(weather) Used to ride minium of 3x a week with average distance of 19 miles. We used to ride loops here that were 6 miles,19 and 30...Until alot of people moved here and fenced, cabled, bouldered their properties. Now even though we live in a rural community we have put the horses in a trailer to hit a trail, which s---- because the trails are close to the house. Horses, atv's would always be allowed on my property.

Good luck on your trip, and keep us informed. However, keep in mind that everything is a little brown during the winter. What you see in February is not what you'll see in the spring/summer and fall.
Where are you staying in OK? And where will you be searching for a house?

Brown is better than feet of white and more white and more.....! We are looking at Poteau,Wister,Heavener, though GP did mention a house near her,so I would like to know where that is and what real estate agent is selling it. Maybe even considering the middle of the state, though leaving Maine and not having the ocean I would really like to have a mix of woods, pasture and mtns. GP's neighborhood sounded perfect, need to be in a horse friendly area and dogs would like my dogs to run loose.
Speaking of white it is now snowing and my bf is plowing and I am procrastinating hoping not to shovel the roofs. Weather forecast for next week is well below zero for about a wk,record breaking is what I heard. To old for that.
Not sure where we are staying, I don't care if we sleep in the car, just want out, playing that be ear and we are not coming in til 10:00 p.m. So excited!!!!!!!!

It appears that piece of property sold......surprised me that it went like that. But just for fun, when you discover what area you are looking at, let me or Schousse know, we have access to both Tulsa nd OKC MLS, and have good friends in most the other areas that can help find the right place for you. BTW, we live about 40 miles west of Tulsa.......If you do a google of the village/town of Terlton you will see my neighborhood. We do have a general store and a post office and about 5 churches, though. So it isn't completely backwards......It's just that there are more chickens or goats than there are people.

If you like the area, we can help you find a decent place......and it doesn't ave to be costly.

I know what you mean. Now that I've turned 60 that 30 degree temperature yesterday kept me inside.....I much prefered the 70 degrees the day before.

Well, I have a good friend that owns a motel in Vinita.......can probably get you a "Route 66" authentic motel for $25-30 a night, That puts you close to all of Northeastern parts of OK. If you want do go down to Wister and that area, you are on your own, but I have a futon in my office at the house you are welcome to for a few days if you want to check out the north central part of the state.........

We only have 3 days of looking,so we will head to Poteau first. I really wish we had two weeks because i want to see as much of the state as possible. A friend of my bf moved from Maine to OKC 1 yr ago and he said about 100 miles east looks like Maine so that is where we chose to look first, though I love the looks of the prairies big wide open skies. I think I will be happy where there is less chance of tornado activity. Speaking of what is the average hazard homeowners insurance?
Kris
ps,thanks GP I will keep in touch.

The Eastern part of the state is more heavily forested and hilly. Where you'll be looking (near Poteau), it's quite beautiful.
