Washington loses more than the Sonics
OU 55, Washington 14............
OU is now the ONLY college football team in history to have FOUR coaches win 100 or more games.
Bennie Owen 1905-1926
Bud Wilkinson 1947-1963
Barry Switzer 1973-1988
Bob Stoops 1999-present
Oklahoma has scored the most points in Division I-A football history despite the fact they have played over 60 fewer games than the second place school on that list. OU also has the highest winning percentage of any team since the start of the AP poll in 1936.
The Sooners possess seven national championships in football, with the 1950, 1955, 1956, 1974, 1975, 1985, and 2000 seasons featuring the top team in the Associated Press final poll, and the 2000 Bowl Championship Series National Championship as well. This ties Alabama for the most national titles of any Division I college football team after the end of World War II (which is commonly used as the division between eras in college football).
In addition to these seven acknowledged national championships there are also nine additional years in which the NCAA's official record book recognizes the Sooners as national champions: 1949, 1953, 1957, 1967, 1973, 1978, 1980, 1986, 2003. The University of Oklahoma does not acknowledge these additional "championships", as they were not awarded by the Associated Press, United Press International (UPI), USA Today Coaches Poll, or the Bowl Championship Series.

Gee, I can't wait to move back to real football country. Here in Washington, the "major" football teams - Washington, Washington State and the Seahawks - are 0-8 for the season. I'm an OSU grad and will never ever claim to be an OU fan but I like it when there's good news for the state. One of the newspaper columnists out here said an OU player knocked the wind out of the Washington quarterback but it didn't really matter because OU had already sucked all the air out of Husky stadium.
Out here they call the two universities UDub and Wazoo.

interesting note (I live here in the Seattle area-for now anyway)
this week they changed the start time for the Stanford/UW game to 7pm at night, when it was regularly scheduled for noon. You would have thought the end of the world came. Everyone is so upset that they changed the time to a night game. And being a longtime Sooner fan, I thought that was very odd. Most OU fans are ecstatic to have a night game...you can tailgate all day, party after the game is over at night.
I just thought it weird that their "fans" were upset to have a night game as if it were an inconvenience to go and watch them play. Of course, with their record, I can understand it not being much fun. But OU had some tough times in the 90's and we all still showed up for the games.
I guess it's just a different mentality. I can't wait to get back to OK.
