That may very well be a good thing because we are thinking it over. Also many are correct about this election causing people to behave differently. I loved it here up until lately. Thanks for all your help.

Jessaka .... we are in your neck of the woods fairly reguarly. If you want, DM me your phone number and we'll call you next time we are there. We usually don't have advanced notice so we wouldn't be able to contact you through here first.

Keep in mind how much you loved it, and keep thinking of all the things that please you. Any major election, most especially a presidential one, inspires all kinds of media frenzy, silliness, hype, and what I can only think of as a rash of social tantrums everywhere in the country. Once it's over, it's over, and life should get back to normal reality. Just be patient for awhile, and if possible, enjoy the whole thing while it's going on. It's a lot like enjoying a two year old's temper tantrum - it's aggravating and frequently inconvenient, but you can be secretly amused by it. Just don't laugh at him aloud or he'll just get worse before he stops.

Nah, that's when the arm chair quarterbacks start getting revved up. The frenzy won't hit for another 1 1/2 to 2 years - then there will be another count down to rabid tantrums.

When I discovered the CD forums your "Tahlequah" stuff caught my eye and I read all of it through your move. One of my "heroes"! I can't help thinking of advice I've seen forever. Discussing politics, religion and sex can get to be a sticky wicket anywhere. I have never been exposed to ANY kind of club (or group of people, for that matter) that can come together and agree on ANYTHING. Like everyone is saying, let it all cool down in a few months. Why should YOU move? You will be hard pressed to find a nicer location - IMO!

I try to be nice to everybody, regardless of race, and all my firiends classify me as a nice, laid back person. Worst thing that has happened to me was I get laughed at by other blacks because I wear American Eagle apparrell as they sport their baggy clothes. Sometimes you have to phase people out, and go about your business. You will make it, Jessaka.

Thank you. That is really good to hear, that is, that you have had no racist experiences.

I think it is more political shock than cultural. I have never been in politics before or listened to even the news. I am shocked at how others react in the the news, and Obama. I even didn't realize how angry that I could get over things that are being said by McCain, etc. Welcome to the world of politics.

Yes, it would be hard to find a better location. I think I get rash, to say the least, and my husband always says, Whatever you want. LOL.
Clubs, as I have learned, tend to draw certain types to certain clubs, and I learned that I was just in a snobbish club with older racist women. You know, the ones that the news says are not voting for Obama due to racism. I also joined a different club with more open minded people. So to judge all of Oklahoma by the elderly population wasn't fair. Not that all of the elderly are racists. But if you can imagine me in Berkeley in the late 60s to the 80s, then you can understand where I am coming from. And yet my parents were bigoted, only I didn't realize this until I grew up and moved away. I never thought about race when I was growing up, and in our small town the student body president we elected was black. I now look back in wonder since it was a cowtown. I even wonder what happened to him.

Is he young? Seems like an older person to me. So wise.
