I love my home state very much, but I really doubt that Oklahoma has more cultural places to visit than Texas or California.
Per capita you might could argue, but those states are so much larger and diverse than Oklahoma they are bound to have more cultural institutions.
But who needs culture 24/7? My idea a good time is being able to look up at night and actually see the stars.

To say nothing of hearing coyotes, cattle lowing, and geese honking. The coyotes are fairly rare in my town, but I do hear them once in awhile. Nice.

Very well put. I love the country. If for some reason I am ever able to retire to the country I'll consider myself a rich man, and not because of money.

I grew up in CA., my retired parents moved here and the only thing my mom could say is "Oh well, I guess one can live within their means because there is nothing to spend you money on". Now, that is her problem, I love the cows and horses I am able to raise here and the low property taxes. Who has time for fancy restaurants and stores....Drive to Tulsa or OKC for that a couple times a year.

My husband would love to be able to say that I can't find anything to spend my money on in Oklahoma.

Who needs stores when you have the internet? It even comes straight to your door without all the hastle. You have to have The List of things you need and want and The Budget for them of course too. a No EBAY, Amazon, etc sticky for when its time to stop and your bank balance underneath. Well, some can resist but its soooo easy to order. You don't have that time factor between the shelf and the loops around the store and the checkout line.
But the internet and online shopping has changed the options on where you live.

Oh, yeah. My main problem with ebay has been that since I moved and couldn't find so much of what I knew I'd packed [some of it just vanished next door, I think], I'd order a replacement whatever. Then a week or so later, danged if whatever it was I'd been looking for for months didn't show up! So now I have, among other things I don't have room for, not one but TWO espresso makers! Sigh.

LOL. And you can order catalogs and shop that way, but mostly I don't. You learn where to find fun shopping. But often when I need something and can't find it I can on Amazon.
