Well, this was over Thanksgiving weekend and I plan this as an annual affair, it being the one time the whole family gets together in one place. My big dissapointment was I didn't get to the one I got my really heavy winter weight coat for 20 dollars and the one next door where I got all my nice snuggly comforters for 5 a piece. Sigh.
There is a really nice resale shop in town here that has good stuff very cheap. I need to ge and visit again.

Lol. Synopsis, I like that O.U. thingy, how do I put it on my profile?
I think Oklahoma is a good place for people who are ready for a laid back lifestyle, or people that travel a lot, and want to come rest, but...for me, it's time to go. I wasn't born here, but I've dealt with it long enough. Most people that are from here, however, are happy and content, and to that, I say, to each is own. I can't speak on Kansas, Missouri or Texas.

Thanks Luvon,
I'm pretty sure that only moderators can put a picture in their signature.
I would be more than happy to pull up stakes and set myself down into a plot of land in Oklahoma!

If you want someplace that is VERY gay friendly then you should come to Connecticut and buy house. This place is so gay friendly that they can even get marriage licenses. There is plenty of culture/dining/entertainment. All you have to do is say 'Obama' and people here have an instant orgasm.
Oklahoma is exactly what I'm looking for. Watching goats play in my pasture is good entertainment for me. Rural property around here is reserved only for the very wealthy. I would love to live in a town so small that three cars going through town at the same time is considered traffic congestion. From what I remember of Oklahoma it is very friendly unless you are trying to make too many changes to the social norm or are trying to raise taxes .... then WATCH OUT!

That's about right. You can come if you intend to leave your out-of-state persona there.

I have also found that most "Okies" are some of the worst backstabbers I have ever seen.
Believe me I will move out of this state the first chance I get and never look back.
The one thing I can say positive about Oklahoma is the State Troopers among the best in the nation.
Now don't get me wrong there are really nice people in Oklahoma, That would stop and help if you are broke down or lost, But the small town people are wacked.

I'm also leaving for some of the same reasons. It has nothing to do with "outsider" attitudes as people here make it seem, actually the same 5 or 6 people over and over posting in defense of Oklahoma. Don't make the mistake of letting them represent the entire state. And don't take my post as gospel either. I posted over a year ago asking about Oklahoma as a place to live. Seemed great. I couldn't have been more wrong. Like the poster that I am qouting says, you are always treated as an outsider. And he pin-pointed the problem. The view that puts the blame at not being born and raised here. If your moving from one part of Oklahoma to another part of Oklahoma, especially if you were born in Oklahoma, then your welcomed with open arms. If your coming from another state, beware. I moved my family here thinking it would be a better life for us. You always hear how friendly Oklahoma is. Honestly, one of my neighbors has to be genuinely one of the friendliest people on earth. The rest don't even acknowledge our existence. I don't think my child has been more alone. A year almost and he has no friends, at 4. Yes, we have tried. But I guess there is no need for anyone to be his friend when they have their brothers, sisters, cousins, etc. all within the precinity. We are white incase anyone is speculating at this point. We came from a place where everyone was an outsider, so everyone was in the same boat. We are headed back there as soon as we can. I won't bad mouth Oklahoma or list all the things I find awful about it. I'll save that for a webpage I'm making that will list everything you should know about Oklahoma, well Yukon in particular, when coming from out of state. It won't be to slam Oklahoma, just some facts and opinions, from weather, to crime and general nature of things. In closing, if you want to know the true colors of Oklahomans, look at some of the responses to those that want to leave Oklahoma and those that want to stay. That is where their true feelings of outsiders come out. Like "well get the heck out", and "don't let the door hit ya", etc. Some show restraint, and manners. Others show just how little they care about you as an outsider. If you posted that you like Oklahoma, they couldn't be friendlier. Just don't change your opinion, otherwise their close-mindedness starts to show.

Sorry to hear your situation isn't what you might like it to be. AFAIC, though, Oklahoma is a pretty decent place......every place has problems, and not every place is a good fit for everyone. I truly hope you find the place you fit into....life is way too short to be miserable or unhappy over a place. Just drive careful and come back and visit some day.
