Default Tulip Bulbs

Any advice on planting tulip bulbs in Stillwater? How much space do I need (planter or yard?). Is it too cold? Will animals eat them or are there things I can do to prevent this? ANy help appreciated.

I was out of town for a week...and when I got back I saw the leaves of my tulips coming out of the ground! And one of my trees had flowered. I hope the next shot of cold weather doesnt kill them off.

I don't do anything to encourage or support my tulips yet they thrive year after year. I don't think you'll have any trouble.
