It's a lot like dancing with the stars.
Oh yeah.....one minor suggestion. Try not to park your car directly in the way of one coming through. It limits their ability to dance and skip so they tend to mess up cars they find in the way. Park your car inside or on a side street. It's safer.
Hope you enjoy Oklahoma...........

Geez, GP, behave yourself. Okay, so now can someone please reassure her about tornadoes? Scotslass, I'm not from Oklahoma, but I've been on this board from time to time to ask about life there. I'll be going to graduate school at some point, and a couple of the universities in OK are among the schools with graduate programs that interest me, hence my interest in learning about OK.
I won't speak about the weather in OK, since I can't speak from experience. However, the regulars on this forum answered my questions and gave me a good picture of the state. Tornadoes don't really freak me out, but I was a little nervous about them, enough so that I asked about them here. People here gave me a good picture of the weather in OK, which left me feeling that tornadoes are not a great concern, even though you should stay aware of the weather on days when it turns severe. People gave me the picture that tornadoes do happen in OK, but that the chances that any one spot will be hit are so slim that it's not worth worrying about. Kind of like swimming in the ocean and being scared about sharks. There is some potential danger, but too little to waste your life worrying about it. I won't say any more than that, since I can't speak from experience, but I think people here will most likely chime in with some reassuring information.
By the way, speaking as an outsider, I will say that if this forum is an example, people in Oklahoma are very friendly and welcoming

For goodness sake! For the final time, OKC may not be as green as Tulsa but it is still overall green! Not to mention Tulsa can turn brown too. I'm so sick of this OKC dust bowl image, it's far from it. Try Guymon for dust bowl...

If you are in to scenery and outdoor activities such as boating, it's a no brainer - Tulsa. Tulsa is surrounded by a bunch of large lakes, many of which you can be on the water in less than an hour. Tulsa's scenery is much prettier than OKC which is very flat. Tulsa area is known as green country for a reason.

Thank you very much for your info guys.
I just have a couple more questions.
Is the crime level low in Oklahoma in general? The state itself looks very diverse and truely beautiful. Slightly different from Scotland but im used to staying in Spain which reminds me of Utah/Arizona.
Does Oklahoma have a good economy? Progression?
Thanks all.

I wonder if it will be as good as Glasgow. I've never seen as many restaurants, pubs and clubs anywhere else. Pleanty of parks and its very walkable and green.

Of course not. I loved Glasgow, but it was never home.
One thing I learned a long long time ago..................never superimpose another place on where you are now. If you expect certain things because you've always had those things, you are certain to be disappointed and unhappy. Did you know, that in the time I spent in Scotland, England, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece, France, Turkey, Norway or north Africa, I NEVER once found a rodeo? I couldn't even find someone who "used" to rope, and no one even knew what bulldogging was! Can you imagine that? Two continents where they have NO idea what a Tony Lama is or a Stetson.......where sporting shops don't carry a small arsenal of rifles, shotguns and handguns?
Once I got over the comparisons to home, I found most of Europe warm, friendly, and totally fun and enchanting.......except, when I was over there, I was 6'4", 230 lbs, wore riding boots (Tony Lamas), a Stetson (20x beaver), Wrangler jeans, a wrangler jacket, and all my shirts had pearl snaps.........people seemed to look at me funny, a lot. I recall standing in a train station and a kid was pointing and saying something to his mom.......guess he hadn't seen an Okie before......only word I understood was "Texas" ........if he had been 20 years older he and I would have had words.......
If you are looking for something similar to Glasgow, try Halifax. When you get to Oklahoma, enjoy the beef, the pork, the poultry, unless it is catfish, probably shouldn't order much fish....it comes from a long long way away.
Hope you find things to enjoy here.......I know a lot of people who have a lot of fun in this part of the world.
PS: I hope you understand that everything I say should be taken with a grain of salt? Holding your nose makes it go down better too.......
