That's one of the reasons I'm in OK instead of back in MO. What I described was my own experience back in MO growing up.

Gosh, the guy asked about whether Tulsa, OKC or Norman was a better choice as to a stop. Instead he got, from a guy in anouther state, about all hitchikers in Oklahoma are convicts.

My choice of stop for your age group is OKC. The area of Bricktown is just east of downtown and is a great night life area.

As for fuel being available, I have traveled for the last 10 years (retired) and can find fuel at least every 50 miles along interstates, even in west Oklahoma where all the escaped convicts are hitchiking.

Maybe.....Mark2525 and his cellmates are planning their jailbreak in December so they may not mind picking up some kindred spirit hitch-hikers on their trek.

Actually, jlb's advice is probably good. (if not, at least it was funny)

I envy you guys being able to take a cross-country journey like that. I did that once a loooong time ago. I was a little uneasy riding alone especially when I got a flat one night in Jackson, Miss. I pulled into this little dive called the "Dew Drop Inn" and waited for the tow truck. Suddenly, these big dudes came strolling in with a girl who had a little too much to drink. They started to pick on me and, well, to make a long story short, the last thing I wanted was to get in a fight in Jackson, Miss on a Saturday night especially when there was three of them and only one of me. I made up some story and managed to get out of there with my hide. My advice is to keep your path thru OK where everyone is friendly all the time and no one has "green teeth". People might think you've flipped if you have to re-route your trip to L.A. via Omaha like I did.

(I hope you are a CDB fan and get the reference for my joke. sorry, couldn't resist.
