The funny thing about those video camera tickets is that they DO NOT go on your driving record because it's a civil fine that doesn't exceed $100. I know your ticket wasn't the result of a camera, but I wanted to share my experience. It's the first time I've had a ticket in over a decade.

I could fight it and should win because the camera wasn't marked but I figure the judge would just slap me with the fine anyway; it's a city revenue thing.

Don't take it personal, the cop was probably told not to issue warnings because the city of Norman is needed a little extra "capital" this month.
I am also sorry to you, Mike, for your ticket that you received in DFW. Here in Oklahoma, people run red lights like it is second nature to them and I really do not think that most of their traffic signal cameras are activated either.

They do it everywhere. At the end of the month, the cops all have to make sure they've met their monthly quota.

I got stopped once years ago for 'speeding' down a hill, instead of riding the brakes. The cop who gave me the ticket said even though I was only going a few miles over the speed limit, he was going to mark me down for 10 over. I checked on it, and a 10 mph ticket would have given me 2 points against my license, and it would have raised my insurance rates. So I went to court to fight it, and the cop who'd stopped me didn't even bother to show up, so the judge threw it out.

Well, I just wrote out a check for $89 to the town of Union City for my husband's speeding ticket. He hasn't had a ticket in YEARS, and probably never a speeding ticket. And Nameless, just to make you feel better, he's no college student!

I used to do it...until I got a ticket for it.

Stop is defined in the dictionary as--to arrest the progress or motion of: cause to halt.
If you roll through a Stop sign, then imo, you have to be willing to accept whatever the legal consequences might be if you get caught.

Well, that sucks man. At least he could've talked to you or something. I could see just writing you ticket if there had been other cars, people crossing the road, and kids playing, but with no one around to pull up and start writing a ticket is a bit much. Maybe this guy does it like that all the time and he goes "by the book". There are others who who use cases like that to "teach" or "lecture" or maybe he just needed to prove he did something for the day. Whatever the case, it shouldn't affect you in the long run.

**If I had won powerball last night, I would've paid the ticket for you, but I didn't get s*it, so sorry.

I'm not saying that What I'm saying is the only reason I got pulled over in the first place is because I am a college student! My dad does the same thing in this same neighborhood with his truck all the time and has never been stopped in 30+ years driving around here. Not to mention you think I have the money for that ticket? Think again...

Nameless, no one said the world was fair.

-You didn't get pulled over because you are a college student. You got pulled over because you rolled a stop sign right in front of the PoPo's. Stop playing the victim!

-The ticket WAS your warning~ to not do it again.

-Just because your Pa does it and gets away with it, does not mean it's okay.

-Pay the ticket and skip eating out at Mickey D's a few times. Life goes on. Get over it.

Focus on the positive side of life. You'll be much happier. The way you're stressing, you're going to die of a heart attack at age 42!

I'd like to apologize to anyone who thinks I'm trying to play the victim. I know what I did was wrong, but one ticket is not going to change me to where I will stop completely at every stop sing. I know I will be campus however.

It seems like none of you think that I was picked on because of my age and car, I think so but that's fine for you all to think what you will. I don't want this to turn into a silly forum fight so I guess we can just leave it at this. If we all agreed all the time there'd be no debates, which I greatly enjoy.

I must say I was already under a great deal of stress that day with a 10 page paper due the next day and that didn't exactly brighten up the day. No one said college is easy but it sure is worth it! Speed traps and all

I had a similar incident as you, Nameless.

We went home to my my parents house in southwestern Oklahoma for Thanksgiving 6 years ago. On the way as we coming into Anadarko we were pulled over for speeding.

My car was side by side with a pickup, we were going the same speed. The difference was my car has tribal tags. I could have easily said, oh man, he only pulled me over because I have tribal tags, blah blah, blah, waa waa.

But no, the truth of the matter was I was speeding. That is the bottom line, if I weren't speeding I wouldn't even have to worry about it.

Your mental outlook is going to lay the framework for the rest of your life. Your going to find yourself in similar situations all the time. It's best you get a grip on it now while you are young, or your life is going to suck big time and you will be angry about this or that all the time.

Forget it! Life is too short to sweat the dumb stuff. You say you are not playing the victim, but you ARE. You think you are being singled out ~as a college student~ or ~because you drive a mustang~, next time it will be because you are ~fill in the blank~ or ~more of the same b.s.~,... that type of thinking doesn't go away.

Now be glad you have a frickin mustang while you are in college, because I walked or road my bike my first two years of college. Then I bought a BOAT *one of those huge 8 cyl. cars from the 70's for $400 my junior year.

Okay, rant over. Go study. And be happy.
