Default Water well shed ?

I'm constructing a new house on a parcel of land and had to drill a water well...my ? is that is it necessary to put some kind of shed or building over the cap? How big does it have to be?

thanks.

It's a good idea, if for no other reason than that if/when work is needed [i.e., the pump needing to be replaced] it makes it a whole lot easier to find. Besides, it also protects the breaker for the pump from the weather, and it's a lot easier to have the breaker right there than in the house. It doesn't need to be a big elaborate thing, just big enough to provide protection. You could even use one of those little pre-fab storage sheds, though it needn't be that big.
