Talking Moving from Georgia to Norman Oaklahoma

Some time in the following year I will be moving to Norman. I am looking for a reasonable priced apt. that is close but not to close to all the activities that Norman has to offer. I would like a quiet, safe location, away from the college partying. My son-in-law who is from Purcell will be moving with my daughter and I want to be near them. I would not mind a location close to them. If any one can give me any input about this town, other than it have the best football team in the nation, I would appreciate it.

I would say Norman is not going to be cheap, but you already know that. I think the further from campus you get, you will find a lot areas that are affordable and not student-housing. Sorry, I can't give you any specifics about rentals, but I am sure there are listings and there should be something online. Hopefully someone else can chime in and help you out.

My personal viewpoint is you're not going to find a better place to live than Norman. I love that place. They have all sorts of cultural activities, etc.

I lived in Moore, which is sort of in between OKC and Norman. I like Moore, it has a lot of very nice homes and apartments for a lot cheaper than Norman.

Good luck on your relocation.

Gabelle,

I agree with Redbird. The further away from OU, should have reasonable prices on apts. Besides, if you're close to OU in apt, you'll have students everywhere. Not that its a bad thing, but I'm guessing you're not looking to be in the college scene. Norman is a great place as Redbird said. Has many activities, places to eat, and events all year long. OU has many things to offer in the way of activities.

Ok, so towards the edges of town would probably suit you just fine. You could even check out Noble, which is just down the road from Norman (5 min) South of HWY 9. Does it have to be an apt or are you also looking at townhomes/duplexes?

Don't know about Norman specifically, but in much of the state, the real estate agencies also do porperty management and might be able to help as far as finding a rental.

I'll disagree on the expense of living in Norman. Check out www.apartments.com and www.realtor.com . Norman is full of reasonably priced apartments and townhomes, and they are much more affordable than anything in Purcell. Norman is big enough for what you need, and small enough that it's within two or three miles of wherever you are.

Norman has the best football team in the nation, and it is a really great town to live in, except on Sat Game Days when traffic gridlocks.
