I need to make a couple corrections to what I wrote above. First, it's not Beverly's but MARILYN'S that has to be the best place for breakfast! (I was thinking of an Oklahoma City restaurant.) But I must add that my wife claims that CARLA'S on Wyandotte near 6th Street and THE MEETING PLACE on Choctaw Avenue are awfully popular among locals.

My favorite eats (limited by truck parking...
) is the Big Cabin Truck Plaza at Big Cabin (Jct U.S. 69 and I-44; mile marker 283) Excellent food any time of day or night; especially love breakfast there! ![]() |

The Catfish Platter south and west of Kingston at Lake Texoma has the best catfish. They are only open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. It's a family restaurant and is always packed, so plan to stand in line for 10-20 minutes if you go late. But it is worth the wait whatever time is required.

I think the best place for Tex-Mex in Southwest Oklahoma is Salas' Restaurant in Lawton, Oklahoma. They have the best salsa (hot and spicy the way I like it) and cheese dip, and the chips and dip are never ending. I like their "Ladies Delight" entree and their Number 5 Combination Platter. My husband, however, ALWAYS gets the Number 2 Combination Platter. I've never eaten it, but my dad loves their Chicken Fried Steak when he's not in the mood for Tex-Mex. Salas' salads are fabulous, too, with daily homemade salad dressings that are fantastic!

J.W. Grill in Chickasha makes the best burgers in Oklahoma. The French fries are FANTASTIC.....real potatoes, not that frozen crud. It's a small diner, so get their early or expect to wait to be seated at the counter. The waitresses are always friendly and keep the drinks filled. Oh, one order of fries is plenty for two people...the order is huge, hot, and delicious!

East of OKC - 15920 SE 29th, in Choctaw. Old Germany. A great family-owned restaurant that's been there 25-30 years, since the family moved from Germany. It's open Tuesday-Saturday for lunch and dinner.
Someone mentioned O'Connell's in Norman. Our favorite, for the taste and the name, is the ETW Burger. It means "extra tasty woofins". |
