Guess it's time for bed. 38-7 in the first half........

But having Sam Bradford as QB is impacting a lot of people........

Quote:
Bradford is believed to be the first Cherokee to start at quarterback for a Division I university since Sonny Sixkiller, a full-blooded Cherokee, who was born here and starred at Washington in the early 1970s.
Quote:
That has not tempered interest within Cherokee Nation, which counts 280,000 citizens and consists of a jurisdiction that includes all or parts of 14 counties in northeastern Oklahoma.

Bradford is followed fervently at Sequoyah Schools, an Indian boarding school for grades 7-12 that is financed by the BIA and operated by the Cherokee Nation.

Tucked away on a sprawling campus near the Cherokee Nation’s headquarters, Sequoyah Schools has 380 students, of which 261 are Cherokee Nation citizens. There, students wear Oklahoma football T-shirts, football players talk about which of them could be the next Bradford, and female students swoon at the mention of his name.

“He’s cute,” said Shelby Botone, 16, a 10th-grader who is primarily Creek and Cherokee. “He’s like perfect.”

Smith, the Cherokee Nation chief, said Bradford’s success had provided much-needed inspiration for Cherokee youth. Bradford’s demeanor is similar to that of Cherokee elders, he said. “He’s a great example of simple, quiet, humble leadership,” Smith said.

Ross Reeder, a tight end and defensive end at Sequoyah Schools, said he felt an immediate connection when he learned that Bradford was also Cherokee.

“It’s pretty cool to see an Indian in such a high limelight,” said Reeder, 17, who is three-thirty-seconds Cherokee. “It’s a very rare thing.”

I would be for OU if for no other reason than Sam Bradford is such a great role model for so many Cherokee.

Bradford is very impressive. Especially for a sophomore.

Well, what a wash out that game turned out to be. Looks like Mizzou picked up where TT left off. Right now, OU can pick apart any Big XII team at will.

Congrats to OU.

Save them for the bar-b-q ribs you eat before the National Championship game!

That was a good game. Bradford looks good for the Heisman. OU's really cooking (sorry to say since I'm an OSU fan). But, we have to root for the home team.

I root for them both, unless they are playing each other!

Greetings Okies. An occasional visitor here, dropping in with some congratulations, and a wish for good luck in the title game. Good game last night. Well, sort of. Not really a good game in terms of what usually makes for excitement--hard-fought, close, and down to the last play--but good for the partisans.

I most likely would have pulled for anyone against Florida. Getting tired of seeing Florida win national championships in both football and basketball for several years. And, I'd be pulling for your Sooners against whatever team might have been their opponent. So, combine the two, and it's pretty clear how I'll be leaning in this matchup. They may have their hands full with Florida, so I'll keep my fingers crossed. You're a good bunch on this forum, so I'll be pulling for your team to bring you a national title. Guess we'll know in four weeks or so. Congrats on last night, and good luck in a few weeks.

I don't think they had football back in Benedict Arnold's day, did they?
