Keep Right, Pass Left
I've been to almost every state and I can say Oklahoma is one of the worst when it comes to "left-lane" campers. In Oklahoma I frequently get tailgated on the main roads when I do the speed limit, you know because it makes sense, ie: there's pedestrians, school zones, traffic lights, etc. Yet, when I do the speed limit on the freeway or highway where it's safer to go a little bit faster, I'm always stuck behind some jacka** who wants to go 10 under... So, what brings this up? I was reading this article about the issue, and the whole time I was hoping that Oklahoma would be mentioned in it, and there it was a little way down the page. It appears that you may get a ticket next time you decide to go slow in the FAST lane, thank God! Nothing makes me more angry, anyway here's the article.

If the vehicle is in the passing lane and is overtaking another vehicle in the right lane, then why would you complain. Is it because they're not traveling as fast as you in the passing lane?
The folks in Oklahoma like to do things thier way, slow and easy. If you want to see some real idiot drivers, go to Michigan, now those people are bad driver. I don't think most of them have an idea of what a turn signal is. Nor do they have any idea of how to keep a safe distance off each others butts when the person infront of them is passing in the left lane. Here in Ohio I love to give idiots like that "Break tests. If they hit me from behind, "no matter the circumstances" the person in the rear is at fault under Ohio law. And I've already once had the joy of seeing one on my rear-end hit the ditch over that, trying to keep from hitting me. I never laughed so hard in my life as I continued to drive on down the high-way.
So, in short, don't be in such a big hurry, slow down end enjoy the scenery and don't get so up-tight, relax

They have the same taigating law in CA. I've had people ridin' my a$$ at 70mph on the Freeway. I just reach down and turn on my parking lights.

People do that to me on US 169 southbound in the morning on my way to work. I don't reach down, I give what is affectionately in my group called a 'brake check'. I just tap the brakes. Enough to turn my brake lamps on, but not enough to actually slow the vehicle down.
And anyone driving near Allen TX for some reason on the North Central (US 75) can't drive worth spit. Not sure what the deal there is. It's like a zone of crappy drivers.

Michigan drivers tailgate pretty bad, I know, they're crazy. The point of my thread wasn't to knock Oklahoma drivers, but to point out one thing that is pretty common, and really you have to admit they do it. I was talking more about the freeway, getting to and from somewhere in town, not so much the highway where I set cruise and enjoy the scenery. I hope the police will stop and cite slow left lane drivers.

Man, I've been gone from Oklahoma for six years. Things must have changed radically. When I left central Oklahoma, you had better be doing ten-over in the left lane or else someone would run you over--probably a State Trooper.
For six years I've been complaining about left-lane-hogs in the Kansas City area. Don't tell me Oklahoma has gone stupid too!

I don't see too many left-lane bandits around Oklahoma City; the bigger obstacle, at least to me, is the character hanging in the right lane at 15 below the speed limit while I'm trying to come up one of our way-too-short on-ramps.

I guess I really can't complian about Ohio's drivers. And I've never driven in California either, but I have heard they are bad drivers.
But I will say this, unless you've driven around on the island of Puerto Rico, you ain't seen nothing . They'll mow you down in the middle of the intersection and not even think twice about it. In the two weeks that I was there on training, I saw atleast two accidents a day and I ain't pulling your leg either. Thier nutts down there.

I'm all in favor of the new law meant to cut down on left lane camping on four lane highways. The left lane really is only meant for passing. It isn't designed for a driver to hang out there and act as "the keeper of the speed."
People who drive too fast can be a hazard on the highways. Unfortunately, people who drive too slow pose just as bad a hazard.
In the Lawton-Fort Sill area, we see LOTS of both extremes. There's no shortage of people who drive either way too fast or way too slow. It can be startling when some guy blazes past you doing 90mph in a 65mph zone. But then you get just as startled coming up on someone doing 30mph right ahead of you. The concept of driving with the flow of traffic seems to be very foreign to many in these parts.
One thing that really jangles my nerves is drivers coming to a dead stop at the end of the acceleration lane on a freeway on ramp. That's not a good thing to see during the morning rush with lots of drivers coming up behind you.
Perhaps the most annoying habit I see around here is the lack of turn signal use. It's always fun to have someone make a sudden right turn ahead of you with no warning. Or a no-look no-signal lane change. Maybe they have that hand they should be using to work the signal thingie on the steering wheel clutched to a stupid cellular phone instead.
