I didn't think Gerty even had a main street. It is just a small area they call Gerty isn't it. Nothing is really there. I think there was a Bar-b-que place close by there isn't there? It serves really good bar-b-que. I forgot the name of the place..

Gerty is an incorporated town and has a main street, water and sewage system, and a few (very few) other amenities. It had a school, but that closed in the mid 60s. The post office there closed a few years after that. But, it is an actual town and not just a gathering of houses that they call Gerty. The place you're speaking of was called Toot's barbecue. It was pretty popular but closed down after the owner passed away (sometime in the 90s, I think).

I left San Bernardino, Ca. for this, I was raised on a Dairy Farm in Michigan. Country life is something I`ve been missing for 30 years.

Picture of Lamar

Here is a picture of Lamar, Oklahoma, taken from the town's website. In the foreground you can see the town pump from the early days.

Good ol' Lamar! Lamar is one of those places that's in the middle of a bunch of very nice hills. It's a beautiful area. Thanks for the pic!

That would be me Tonya! I remember you and Granny Carter very well. I had more than my fair share of green apple stomach aches back when I was a kid. Send me a private message or email if you want to discuss further.
Cheers,

I just moved to (SW)OK, so I Passed the picture of the truck in front of the building on to some relatives and told them it was my new luxury suite.
We were all raised on farms in the backwoods of Michigan.
All of the towns around me are small and old fashion, like: Comanche. Marlow, Velma, Bray and Duncan even Lawton. Bray has 1 convenient store and gas station in the middle of town.
