Karibear, my guess would be that the "BB" stands for "Bulletin Board." It's a leftover phrase from the early days of the internet where forums like this were called "bulletin boards."

Forgot all about that - I was thinking BB guns! I was a newsgroup junkie until the unmoderated ones got just too weird, then finally went cold turkey and quit completely. Got tired of being told how to commit suicide, among other things, and the constant never-ending flame wars.

Well glad someone from my area knew what BB stood for I thought everyone knew that; what do you young folks call it.

Seeing as how I'm in my 60s, it feels kind of funny to be called 'young' - but I got into it when they were newsgroups, so I was an ng junkie. I was also an NPR junkie, but National Public Radio doesn't seem to reach here. But now, when I refer to CityData to any of my old friends, I call it a moderated newsgroup instead of a forum, and they know what I mean. They mostly got into newsgroups the same time and way I did, and got burned out on them for the same reasons. Just too many weirdos and nasties out there.

Well I'm in my 60's also and some one is always calling me young except my gran children and to them am older than dirt. I have been a member on a national non-moderated board since 2004 and am about burnt out on it also all of the name calling and the crazies seem to just come out of the wood work. So I may hang out here and see what happens. I haven't done a search yet but will soon, am going to be looking for a group with common interest my hobby trail riding and horses in general. Its going to be quite different on a moderated board I read the rules hope I can stay within the boundries I like to post and can get carried away at times thread drift. See Ya
