Obama's Okie connection
Interesting article in Sunday's Ponca paper ... the Dunhams, Barack's
grandparents, lived in Ponca from 1948 to 1951. His mother was a
student in Ponca elementary schools during that period. The grandfather
was a salesman at Paris Furniture. Apparently they didn't leave a
big impression on the city.......

What sort of impression were they supposed to have left on the city? And who were they supposed to impress?

Does everyone need to leave an impression in the cities or towns they once lived in? I'm sure at that time in thier lives they weren't thinking, "we need to leave a good impression in this town, we're going to produce a future Pres some day".
Just a thought, because some people don't worry about what other think, good or bad.

It's better to leave a good impression on your loved ones and children. I met a couple of guys who said their parents owned land in OKC area prior to the depression. Then sold the land and the land became oil rich.
They were pretty vocal about the bad decision by their parents. I told them most likely their parents did everything they could to support the growing kids and they had no idea the land would become oil rich.
IMO, working and trying to build a better life for their children makes the best impression to me.

Truer words never said better RB.
My father worked his backside off to feed 10 of us and mom as a truck driver, plus running the farm and remodeling the house we lived in. God bless him and mom for everything they did for us, even if there are some that still don't think it was enough. Thier lives are the kind that "Impress Me", hard working and were always making big sacrifices for us kids.
