I'm thinking about moving over to Guthrie. Unfortunately, like most towns/cities, Guthrie's website is devoted to dry statistics and info for tourists--not much at all for people who are considering living there.
I plan to visit Guthrie next weekend, but would like to do as much research first as possible.
What are some apartment complexes in Guthrie? Is it possible to get an apartment on an upper floor in a building downtown? How much are apartments generally? (studio, one bed, two bed) Are there any apartments you'd recommend or warn about?
Is there a YMCA? How about retirement homes? Gyms? (researching all kinds of places where I could teach yoga once certified)
Where do people in Guthrie shop for food? I'm interested in fresh fruit and veggies mainly. I know that there is probably a farmer's market, but I'll need to buy food all year round, so I'd like to know if there is a good place to shop that is NOT Wal-mart.
How about animal clinics/hospitals? Any that you would recommend or warn about?
What is the school district like? Do they have money to get teacher's assistants (a job I'm hoping for)? Are there any private NON-religious schools? I don't have kids, so I'm not too worried about the quality of the education--just whether or not I stand a chance of getting a job (where I can hopefully make a difference).
How churchy is Guthrie? Am I going to be continually blessed against my will and told Jesus loves me? Do religious salespeople knock on your door a lot? hahahahaha....can you detect any bitterness there?
Finally, are there any websites you could point me to where I could learn more about living in Guthrie? Especially...are there any forums devoted to Guthrie?
Much appreciation for any help!
