Badly need to find small home to rent in small OK town
I own an older mobie home on Lake Texoma. I live on disability. I have my children and grandchildren living nearby. I hate leaving them, but I need to get away from here for a few months, maybe permanently. A lot of the people originally from this area are not good people. some of them have a vendetta against me because I divorced a man who has lived here all his life. He was on drugs and abusing me mentally and physically. These friends and relatives of his have been harassing me off and on for several years. I can't take it any longer. I would like to shut my house down for awhile and rent maybe just a one room place that wouldn't cost much. Remember, I live on disability. I don't expect anything real nice or fancy; just a safe haven to get away from here. I would like it to be close enough to come back if my family needed me in an emergency, but at least an hour or 2 away from here. I grew up in duncan and am familiar with Velma, comanche, Marlow, some of those places. also lived in Davis and sulphur area for awhile. Loved Doughtery, Does anyone know of a place I can rent very cheaply with low utilities, or maybe all bills paid. I am a very friendly person and would like to be among friendly people.

Check local newspapers. Lots of people rent rooms. Some with private access. Shold be cheap enough there. Good luck.

Maybe you would like Grand Lake area. There are many areas around where you should be able to find some peace, If you tell anyone where you live, trouble may follow you. Before you leave, get a post office box and have mail forwarded. Do not be surpised if your trailor is gone when you return. Revenge is mean spirited.

Here's something you may want to try. You can check out the towns that are listed and you can adjust it to larger cities or even smaller towns by clicking on the links at the top of the page. When you find one that interests you and visit that town's page~look for the cost of living number. It's directly above the links to threads in the forum. 100 is the national average and a lot of OK towns/cities are in the 70s. That would at least eliminate any areas where rent would be high.
I believe there's also links to the town's local newspaper on that page, too.
Good luck to you and I'm so sorry that people are behaving that way where you're living now. Most people are nice, BUT some can be very cruel.
