I don't know the name of the place (will share it tomorrow night) but it is about Classen and NW 26th, on the south east corner, with the big Asian super market right behind it.We can get really nice dog bones there, they have lots and lots of really fresh produce that other stores don't carry (like fresh lemongrass). We picked up about 5 pounds of garlic a couple of months ago for about $6 (as I recall) Lots of it we chopped and froze so it is reay to use, some we packed in olive oil whole, and some we roasted, then chopped and froze (we like garlic a lot). Will probably pick up some jasmine and basmati rice tomorrow. Haven't given it much thought, but they have live frogs and a butcher counter.....Haven't had really fresh frog legs in a long long time.

Schousse will post some pictures later, but we stopped off at the salt lake outside Cherokee (between Cherokee and Jet) on the way home tonight. We couldn't dig for crystals because some kid found some old WWI mustard gas canisters there, so the government is doing a thorough inspection of the place. It is a really neat place though.........

I remember driving through Cherokee when I was in high school. Not sure why or where we were going, but I remember telling my mother that it was a great little town and that I wanted to live there someday. I'd go back and see if I still feel that way if it were closer to where my parents are now. No use in falling in love with a place all over again if it's too far away.

It is called the Golden Phoenix, it is on the southeast corner of Classen and NW 25th. We had lunch there today, Schousse had a pork vermicelli dish and some steamed dumplings, I had their broken rice plate with Filet Mignon with a garlic chicken wings in fish sauce as an appetizer. We got there about 1:30, they were packed with close to 100 people, and Schousse and I were the only non-Asians......REALLY nice little place......the Filet Mignon was under $10.00 and the vermicelli was under $6. We brought some left overs home for lunch tomorrow.......

Golden Phoenix (or Kim Phung in Vietnamese) is probably the premier Chinese barbecue restaurant in Oklahoma City. Formerly known as First Chinese B-B-Q, part of a chain out of Dallas, Golden Phoenix serves much the same kind of food (although I assume with a change of owners). One of the most notable features of the restaurant is the array of hanging barbecued ducks, chickens, and other animals in a display case seen upon entering the front door.

If you are ready for some of the more authentic and unusual Chinese dishes, this seems to be one of the best places to try them.
