Kari can be our human richter scale. She has lots of experience from her wild and wooly Alaska days. I don't think I've felt one yet here in Oklahoma. Of course, anything below 4.5 or 5 isn't worth mentioning.

That 2/22 quake was at 3:43 in the morning? Geez, Kari, you were really up late that night.

Not all of them, just the ones that show up when I check weather Underground for the local temps and the site is smeared all over with "earthquake!"

At least OK doesn't have to worry about tsunamis.

But just up the hall in a different wing that pre-dated the one where I worked, no one felt or heard anything. Then much later I was in the Nisqually quake in WA, and it didn't do a thing to the house, but we could watch the road 20' away rippling. I just prefer my terra to be firma.
Unless a quake is huge, the safest construction is a one story wood frame building. It can sway with the ground. On cement slabs like in California you get a lot of shaking and things fall off, but the building has enough "give" it holds together. Even if there is damage it isn't as likely to collaps on your head.

If its huge, well, just hope and pray and get under a strong table or cover yourself with pillows.

Yeah that rippling pavement. I was just slowing down to park once and the ripple literally sent the car flying up and down.

And I did not bring them with me either. Absolutely. Promise.

But geesh I move here and find there are quakes and grass fires, guess you can't every get away.
