Default great locale not too far from larger cities

If you are considering moving to Oklahoma, which is a wonderful place to raise a family by the way, then you should really check into the Purcell area. It is a small city with around 6000 people. It is about 15-20 minutes to Norman, which is experiencing rapid growth right now. Also Purcell is only about 25-30 minutes from south Oklahoma City. My husband commutes to North East Oklahoma City every day for work, and it usually takes him about 35 minutes. Purcell is right off of I-35. We have lived all over Oklahoma, including Ada, Oklahoma City, and Norman, as well as others, but Purcell is by far the best. We've been here for about 5 years now. The city is close knit, but not suffocating. The crime rate is very low, and the people here are wonderful. Everyone is extremely nice and willing to help in any way they can. The schools aren't too shabby either. You can get a really great house for anywhere from 75,000-150,000. I have 3 kids of my own, and I can assure you that they are my first priority. I love this city and honestly feel it is one of safest and happiest places to raise our children.

Property taxes are very high in Texas, Frisco and Allen are very expensive communitis, I live in Frisco and the average income is 105,000 a yr. and Dallas has high crime and lousy schools and the traffic here is terrible. I too, am trying move to the Tulsa area.

Jexter, we are right there with you... trying to get out of california. We are moving next month, and don't have a place yet so it's a bit scary, I guess we will stay with family in Ada if we have to, but we are SO SICK OF IT IN CALIFORNIA... I'm so happy to hear that you are trying to find a better place to raise kids, because this place, is NO place for kids... God Bless.

I was SO SICK OF IT IN CALIFORNIA too. Great you are moving in a month. You will like Oklahoma or at least I hope you do. I never want to even visit California again. But you never know, maybe I will get old and senile and hop a bus to Calfornia to my hometown.
