You're welcome and thank you for letting us enjoy your pics! Is there anything they can do for you? Any surgery or something? I really wish I could help, but right at the moment I can't even suggest anything because it seems we need our hands for nearly every job. But we'll definitely brainstorm on it. Is disability possible in your situation?

I live in Burns Flat, Ok which is in Western Oklahoma. Elk City is the closest city with the most jobs as it is right in the middle of the oil and gas fields. My wife and I were truck drivers at one time and we drove through here a few times and were impressed with the friendliness of the people here and the low cost of living. I have lived on the west and east coasts and been every where else and there is no other place where I can make a decent living and buy a nice home for under $60,000. Elk City is higher than most places around here and that is because of the oil and gas industry. But it is still better than the east or west coast areas. We have been here for a little over 3 years and we will probably stay here for a long time. Western Oklahoma is still farming country so there is not much here compared to eastern OK and so when we want a big city break we just drive to OKC or Amarillo.
Weatherford has the highest rating in western ok for public schools and it has a full time university, SWOSU. Crime rate is fairly low compared to Elk City and it is a family friendly town.

Monica,
I am sorry that you have health problems. I used to have carpal tunnel and refused surgery because the doctor said that the muscle in my palm would not return. I went to a chiropractor, and not every chiropractor is able to cure it, but the one I went to did in a few weeks. He used to not just adjust my neck and back but he whipped my wrist. (This was in California). So I went back to my other doctor to show him, and he said it cured itself, which is wrong since less than a month before he said it couldn't be cured.) My brother had it and went to the health food store and got B-6 and cured his. (I am only guessing that it was B-6 and not another B vitamin, but he took large doses, and the health food store has a book that tells you how much to take.)
I had my carpal for over six months when I finally went to chiropractor.
Neck and shoulder tension can also cause the problem.
You really take great photos. I love photographer and took a few classes in college. Wish I had continued. Now all I have is a crummy camera and need to get up to Tulsa to buy a good one. I am thinking of Nikon. Still, my photos would never be as nice as yours. Wish we had classes here in Tahlequah.

My husband and I had one of our famous conversations last night. If we won 2 million dollars where would we live. Well, it wasn't in Tahlequah city limits. LOL. I said that I loved it just north of Tahlequah up highway 82 maybe 5 or 10 miles from Tahlequah, and we would get a big ranch and hire people to run it for us, and I would get a driver and have someone take me everywhere. So out of all the States that we have traveled in, we would both still pick Tahlequah area.

The Tulsa/Bartlesville Area is a GREAT place to live. You mentioned Bartlesville first so I'll talk about it first. Conoco-Phillips is the largest employer. The Phillips name is all over the town. Frank Phillips had a big ranch and lodge there and gave it to the city. It is now called Wooloroc. It is a museum containing things from his travels all over the world, including an airplane and African shrunken heads to beautiful paintings and sculptures. There are buffalo, deer and all kinds of wildlife. You can take a picnic and spend the day.
Every year the entire downtown is full of music. They host the OKMotzart festival. Because of the good jobs there, the housing market is very good too. You can find new to established neighborhoods. You can live in town or out in the country.
Just North are smaller communities and the Kansas border.
About 30 minutes to the south on Highway 75 is Owasso. Owasso has had about a 35-40% growth in the past couple of years and is slightly larger weighing in at about 35,000. There are all kinds of restaurants, shopping and 2 new hospitals.
In both Bartlesville and Owasso you will find country living with acerages or subdivisions with the newest amenities like parks and lakes.
Bartelsville and Owasso both have very active Chamber of Commerces and have printed brochures and information that they will mail to anybody interested.
Kind regards, Deborah

Hi. About Chickasha

What can you tell me about Chickasha. How far from Norman is it and are there rv parks there?
What about the crime.
Sometimes for older folks (I was born in Allen OK) you think lowest crime, then lowest cost housing and rv's are that.
Are there casinos there? My wife has 25 years as an insurance account manager but there are so few jobs like that up here in Missouri - she is working as a casino supervisor.
Are tornadoes more like in Chickasha that other okc area towns?
Thanks much - we're both Sooner fans also.

I have websites and have had carpal a number of times. Mostly rest has cured it - I got off the keyboard for a couple of days. There's some exercises too, holding your arms straight out and with hands pulled up as far as you can - 15-20 seconds or longer - then shaking them out - then making fists and folding the down as far as possible - holding for 15-20 seconds and shaking them out.
This has always helped me when I was having some minor pain. They say taking b vitamins can help too - especially b6.

Hi Major
Chickasha is about 35 miles from Norman. I don't think there are any casinos in Chickasha. The Chickasaws have built a very large casino, Riverwind, right south of Norman. My daughter worked in the casino when it was the convenience store/casino. They were good employers and she made pretty good money with the tips. She had to work the graveyard shift though. The Riverwind also has concerts.

Brag you shall get. Welcome to Newcastle Oklahoma! Newcastle is located 20 minutes from downtown Oklahoma City. Just a hop and skip from the hustle and bustle of Oklahoma City but far enough away to enjoy the splendors of the country and small town living. We are the largest city in McClain County. Granted our population (6600) is less than what you are looking for but we are on the move. Most of all, we are perfect for your daughter. We have excellent schools that are driven to have our students succeed. Our school administration's goal is to maintain classroom population at a maixmum of 25 which allows more individualized attention to each student. We build strong and civic minded students that value community. We have will have something for her to participate in and she will make plenty of friends. Our kids are always welcoming! Our test scores are above average for the state, our crime rate is low and we have plenty of property to choose from. It you want new, we have it, if you want something older, we have it. Come call Newcastle HOME!

Jessica, we went to the Boston Ave. Methodist Church and thought it was beautiful. We also drove by the cutest little church that had like a cottage shape to it~may have been Presbyterian, if I remember correctly.
The zoo was so-so, but it was kind of off-season since it was mid-Oct.
They have a neat aquarium in Jenks, too. We loved all the moonfish and just everything they had there.
We were SO impressed with the Gilcrease Museum. We also liked Woodward Park, but we love flowers and gardens. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see Philbrook cause we were going to leave and they didn't open until 10 am.
One of the things we noticed while we were there is that the motel didn't seem to have any literature about Tulsa or OK in general. They carried brochures for many things in Texas.
We've never lived in a city and I don't know if we ever will so Tulsa seemed big to us and had fast traffic. But we have to say that people were very considerate in their driving.
We thought Tulsa was beautiful, but just a bit too big for us. We don't have any regrets about going there since I've always wanted to see Tulsa. Just wish we'd have taken a couple extra days so we could've stayed in Grove longer.
