In my opinion you would be better to purchase a home on Lake Keystone. It is within 15 min from downtown Tulsa, and I think it would be a good investment. Just had friends move from CA and paid CASH for their new home here since home prices are so low here. Cleveland is close to Keystone Lake as well. I just did a loan for a young man that purchased a home in Cleveland. If you have children that are in school or if you want to be "closer" to theaters, shopping etc, Sand Springs or Manford would be better bets. Good luck and welcome to OK (God's Country)

I do not know anything about Cleveland, but we recently moved from Central California to Sand Springs, in Osage County. People here are great and very helpful. We live in the country but close to civilization. It is very beautiful with a lot of green grass and trees. I'm not quite used to the humidity, but I noticed recently it has not been as humid as when we arrived two weeks ago. There are a lot of bugs in the trees that are very noisy at night, but I understand they will go away as soon as it begins to get cool. AT&T informed me they are working on getting DSL up here soon. Right now, with rabbit ears, we are getting 6 very clear TV channels and Dish Network will be here tomorrow to install their equipment so we can at least get my favorite news channels and of course, HGTV, as well as some of my other faves. I understand we don't have to worry much about tornadoes up here because of the hills. It snows and gets icey in the winter (maybe two weeks or so of ice) according to our neighbors. There are exciting thunder storms to watch, quite a change from California.
I noticed there are a couple of houses for sale in the cute little village down the hill from us.
I wish you the very best and hope you will be happy as we are with your move.

I live about 8 miles from Cleveland, which is my nearest "town". It has baout 3,500 inhabitants and parts of Cleveland are right on Keystone Lake.
CLeveland is a nice place to live and much less expensive than Tulsa, yet is only about a 35-40 minute drive from Tulsa.

We live in Cleveland
We've lived on Lake Keystone for the past three years. Moved from Sand Springs. Total we've lived in OK for ten years. We moved here from the Clear Lake suburb of Houston.
We LOVE our home, we love the lake. Cleveland is a small town and feels like it. We have a 'baby' Wal-mart, a Homeland grocery store, a two-screen movie theatre, and some good (down-home) restaurants.
We both work in downtown Tulsa, and our commute is a piddly 25 minutes on sparsely traveled divided highway. We average 75 mph each way. Tulsa Intl. airport is about 35 minutes away.
Cleveland has a little hospital that we've used once when hubby squirted Super Glue in his eye (don't ask!). When we got there, the nurse came out and rushed him back to the doctor. I asked another if they wanted our insurance info and she said "We'll take care of that later, let's get him taken care of first." I may have fainted on the spot, but that's how it is out here.
As for tornados, yep, we get them. All of our neighbors think we're strange that we put in a storm shelter, but hello - tornados?! That's the best you can do - that and keep a weather eye out and a weather alert radio nearby. When bad things do happen (ice storms and downed trees), the neighborhood comes alive with people helping each other, the elderly, and our couple of widows. Way cool.
As for other things to recommend - I'll start with this past week: we're on the monarch migration path so we've had scores of butterflies floating over the house and enjoying our butterfly garden. The bald eagles are back and we saw two on the lake yesterday. It's also catfish time so all the men are out snagging their catfish.
Did I think I'd love rural Oklahoma this much? No way. Is this one of the best moves we've ever made? Sure is!

I was raised in Cleveland, but left after getting out of the military. We are coming back next month to retire. I bought a house in Westport on the Keystone lake. It is very peaceful and close to everything and now is the time to buy. After being gone for so long now I realize that it is Gods country.

Cleveland
Hello everyone
I am writting this to get some info on the town of cleveland... i have heard alot of good things about this town... i moved to grove about a year and a half ago and though it is very beautiful and i love the lake im sorry but i HATE this town... moving to grove was one of the biggest mistakes i have made.. I have never met or come across more Ruder snotty inconciderate people in my life. if you dont have money and are not one of the rich you are nothing here. the schools are horrible.. my daughter hates the high school, more and more teen agers are getting pregnant and there are nothing but drugs going thru there, it is a very sad thing and i know i will get rude and mean comments from this but im sorry i am just speaking from experience and what I and alot of others have gone thru in this town... anyways i want to get out of here and move to a nice town where people truley care for one another and have good schools. could anyone please give me some information on this town and please be honest about it. thank you so much in advance

sunshyne, as I stated in a couple of post above, I am coming home to Cleveland after 40 some years. It is a small town with the same population as it was when I left in 1966. I have always came back for our class reunions and sort of kept in touch with my friends. I never thought my wife who was born and raised in Northern Indiana would ever think about living in Cleveland. As the years passed and the winters got longer and colder in Indiana, she suggested we look into retiring to Cleveland. It has always been a HS football town and always had down home feeling. We are very close to Tulsa if you need the things a large city has to offer. I told my wife we could retire any place in the US and Cleveland was what she picked. That says a lot, as she is very picky about everything. Feel free to DM me is you have any other questions that I might help you with.
