Default Do The Casinos...

Do the casinos ever have any live bands or other entertainment there? Was just wondering cause the Sioux Casinos have bands a couple of times a month. A lot of them are country and a few of them are rock-n-roll. I believe the Oak Ridge Boys were just at one of them and in a few weeks Herman's Hermits will be there, too.

Yes, they have live bands at most if not all of them. Even the ones in the "country" down in the southern part of the state. I was driving through Durant back when I visited Gerty and saw that ZZ Top was going to be at the Choctaw Casino. I just looked on the Cherokee Casino website in Tulsa and see that Credence Clearwater Revisited will be there. Apparently this band isn't the real Credence Clearwater, but must sound an awful like the real deal.

I saw CCR in Laughlin, NV last October. It is CCR without John Fogerty. There's at least 2 original memebers, maybe 3. Now you're probably thinking that w/o Fogerty it can't be any good. I thought the same thing, but I'll have you know that when they auditioned for the new lead singer I bet the only qualification needed was to sound like Fogerty. The man sounded just like him. The concert was excellent, a pleasant surprise.

There are so many old groups that only have one or two of the originals and if you go to a concert, you can't tell the difference from the originals. The Grass Roots only have one of the original members and they sound exactly like they did 30 years ago. There are now three Beach Boy groups and they all sound like the originals. We love going to hear the old groups.

CCR without John Fogerty just wouldn't be the same for me. And the old Band Grand Funk Railroad had to get three guys just to replace their one original lead guitar player lead singer Mark Farner, but John Kay the original lead singer for SteppenWolf can rock no matter what band backs him up.

However, folks like Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson have kept more of their original band members than a lot of other folks have.

The new Pottawatomie casino near Shawnee has had a great run of live, diverse entertainment including Ron White (blue collar comedy) and The Temptations. The casino is building a large entertainment venue and promises to bring in more national acts as well as bands and national boxing matches.
