There have only been a few smaller fires on the edges of Duncan, most of the damage happened in the smaller towns near us. (Loco, Velma and Meridian) Just yesterday there was an illegal "controlled burn" that got out of control... Remember that loooong road we took that my Dad's place is on? It was out there and it took the firefighters about an hour to get it out.
The prairie does bounce back very quickly after a fire and it is very beneficial... Re-building people's homes and healing the burns on the injured firemen takes a lot longer.... Also in our area much of what burned was grazing land... it will be a few weeks before the land bounces back and starts producing food for the cattle and wildlife.
I do have some pics that I will try to post in the next few days.
Thankfully it has been raining all night, so everything is too soggy to burn!
